I think that is coming soon. Once a team is out of the playoff race, guys will opting out.

That’s the natural evolution of this whole thing. College football is ultimately meaningless to a lot of these players at a certain point. Even if it’s mid season.

I don’t see how the playoffs are going to stop it. No way a stud is going to risk playing 4 more games for a title.

Only way to stop it is with the NIL contracts and delaying the portal.

The players either need to be under contract or they need to stop lowering enrollment standards for football players and make the ones that don’t gaf about school go to a minor league football team.

The NCAA should stop letting the NFL/NBA use it as a minor league.

People should be harder on teams that get blown out in bowl games because they were decimated by opt-outs. Why should Florida State be given a pass for a bunch of players quitting on them?

Because one bad bowl game will diminish a undefeated conference champions season

Because is today’s pussy society a coach would be scolded for enforcing his players to play

So undefeated Florida State should be playing in the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl

Unpopular opinion. Any player that opts out at any point should pay back their scholarship money for quitting the team prior to the end of the season. With NIL, they can afford it.

I think the top tier guys would probably do it now if it were more common and acceptable. Opting out of bowls has become the norm, so they know they won't catch too much shite for that.

You guys are just going to have to realize that these players are on the cusp of generational wealth and really want to avoid fricking it up. Their bodies are fragile and their talent has a very short shelf life.

Making sure they get to the league with a healthy body and the biggest contract they can get is more important than the Orange Bowl, the Iron Bowl, or even a national championship.

Not unpopular by me. I’ve said players should be given a choice… NIL or traditional scholarship route.

1) Traditional Scholarship route everything is paid for you but no NIL contract.

2) NIL. Sign whatever deal you want but you pay for EVERYTHING. Tuition, housing, meals, nutrition plan, S&C plan, coaching, and most importantly… the right to wear the uniform (this scales with the visibility… 11am game costs less than a top 10 prime time exposure game).

Take your pick.

This. Set the portal entry date with the old signing date. No transfer portal until after the bowl/playoffs are done.

Bahahahahaha!

1. No program has the balls to try something like this unilaterally because players would go elsewhere and the program would get its arse kicked.

2. It's very possible to make legitimate NIL money in today's world. You're going to take a high profile athlete like Tim Tebow off scholarship because he has a million followers on Instagram?

Actually enforce and encourage rigorous academic standards for athletes enrolling. Supervise and enforce class attendance.

Essentially make them student athletes again.

But no one cares or has integrity. Do you see how much money programs can make? frick school!

Title IX would make that difficult.

What if Sally Q struggles with depression and needs to go home during the volleyball season? You going to make her pay it all back?
