When Troy Smith won it over McFadden by throwing for a whopping 2,500 yards.

Rashan Salaam ran for 2000 yards for an 11-1 team who should have won?
Of all the controversial Heismans, even in the 90s Torreta, Woodson, to single out Salaam and Eddie George

Troy Smith was a hilariously bad winner

For me it was when I retired from football at 13 to pursue my porn career.

Troy Smith has to be the worst one

That was criminal

The crazy thing was that he won the voting by a huge margin that stood for a long time.
Dude wasn't even the best QB statistically that year.

gino toretta 1992.

Yeah. He was very efficient but he wasn’t even among the top 3 leaders in total offensive yards in the Big 10 alone

Pretty old. Saw my first game in Tiger Stadium in 1949 as an eight-year-old.

It lost its luster when Gino won it and Marshall Faulk didn't because he played for San Diego State.
Then you realized, hey if I have a top ranked team my QB will win it...otherwise, a player not on the Top teams had to go Barry Sanders on the world...so basically the bar was raised (greatest season ever) if you're not a top media darling team.

2006 when ESPN gave it to Troy Smith in August

McFadden couldn't even sniff the Heisman because of the stupid 'we 9nly give it to upper classmen', then Tim Tebow won the very next year on an 8-4 Florida team when McFadden was basically the entire offense on Arkansas.
Truly one of the worst eras of Heisman winners ever.
