Nothing

Look I'm not trying to cover for the NCAA, but every time they try to enforce or implement some type of rules they've been sued in court. They've basically said screw it and let chaos ensue
It was always going to get to this point, but the NCAA sat on their arse and tried to hang on to zero payments for far too long. They lost all ability to slowly and control the roll out. Instead they waited till almost all power got ripped from them and we went from 0 to 100 instantly.

Each deal carries a minimum 3 year agreement
This agreement would have a shorter lifespan than the big 10 acc pac 12 alliance
The market is too competitive and talent supply is too low, why would a player accept a 3 year contract when he can perform and transfer for more money?

You can't fix NIL.
What you can fix is the transfer rules.
I'd say make it like the NFL.
3 years on a campus then you can go pro or transfer unless your position coach/coordinator or head coach leave. Or you can transfer after 1 but must sit a year
That it its not a fricking free agency every off season and a team like Boise St won't have half its roster poached

Second, explain how doing this would control NIL one single bit.
Well if they form a league, they can pretty much do whatever they want to.

Mandatory sit out for a year when transferring, unless:
1. Your coach is fired or leaves for another job
2. Graduate transfer
Mandatory sit out year can be waived if the school losing a player allows it (this will give schools a little more leverage and also the possibility to be compensated behind the scenes by bag men of the receiving school)
This backdoor NIL compensation will help losing school use funds to retain other players or fill roster hole.

Fixing transfer rules would be a better fix and would sidedoor a lot of the NIL ridiculousness.
Go back to having to sit at least a year unless a coach leaves. Maximum of one transfer every three years.

NIL signee is locked in for 2 yrs. Only one transfer allowed. 5yrs to play 4.

What about some sort of compensation from the school that a player transferred to?
For example, Juice Wells transferred from South Carolina to Ole Miss. He did so after getting injured early in the season, rehabbed on our dime, was cleared to play, refused, and then transferred. If he wants to play for another team, fine. But should South Carolina receive some type of compensation from OM or Wells?
I only use that example because I know it. In the reverse scenario I'd expect SC to compensate.
That wouldn't be too unlike pro teams that deal in trades. They get at least something when a player leaves.

Probably wouldn't work, but I like the premise. I like the transfer rule part, and then the allowance of sort of trading between universities, which could incorporate the trade of money.
We went from 100% school control and 0% player control to a complete reversal. There is a happy medium somewhere that needs to be found.

Forming a new league would do absolutely nothing to stop NIL. Explain how you think it would.

Remove the universities from the equation. These collectives are bullshite. Needs to be directly between players and businesses.

I agree, but the collectives are "businesses." Those businesses/collectives fund NIL deals.

All of you are freaking hilarious. You can’t legislate against people wanting to win games. The NCAA had rules that said you couldn’t pay a player anything, ZERO.ZIP. And yet teams that won did pay for decades with 1 punishment (SMU).
Now, you believe a salary cap will stop these teams from paying more? Are you guys really that gullible?
And no way you can stop the portal. That train has left the station. And it’s great for every team except those who feel it is their right to stack a 2 deep with 4-5 stars. And do yo7 really want to force players to stay who are just going thru the motions until they can leave?

Do away with the NIL and only one transfer per athlete allowed and you have to sit out a year when you transfer.

Make is “name image and likeness”, not just fricking collectives saying “come here and get money”.

Make it like European soccer. You sign a contract with a team for as long as you want out of high school. If either side wants out of the deal before the end of the contract, they need to find another school that is willing to pay a transfer fee to end the contract so they can start a contract with the new team.
So, if a player at ULL is incredible their freshmen year, it may be better for the team and player to find an SEC school to play at. ULL might make a lot of money off this player or they can choose to keep the player. The less time left on the contract, typically the smaller amount teams would pay.
Same works the other way. LSU gets a lemon QB. The kid can continue to sit and make more money, or they can seek out a school for transfer to that is willing to pay an agreed transfer fee and the kid will likely have a worse deal.
Admittedly, I have no idea the legality of any of this with schools and players. I just figured capping NIL is out the window, and transfer fees give schools more control of player movement.

NIL money isn’t a salary. No way they will be able to cap NIL money
Well the pros have figured it out. It's not like they can sign a minimum deal and take NIL money to sign with a pro sports team.

Straight pay for every team sport. Everyone gets the same.
