LHSAA says you can’t go to a specific school for sports when privte schools get to recruit and public can’t

I can’t imagine living somewhere where private school athletics are remotely decent.

The state of Louisiana is also mostly full of idiots. Sometimes, those idiots become the people that run things. And when idiots run things, idiocy becomes policy.

The public schools were tired of sucking and always losing so they turned 5 divisions into 12 so they still suck but win championships now.

Some do and some don't. Don't lump Zachary in to this group. Zachary, and some other admirable Pubs, voted against the split.

ETA: It can't be stated enough: the LHSAA as an organization is spineless and generally gets stuff wrong more often than it gets stuff right.

For the playoffs, in certain sports, only.

Football, Baseball, Softball, and Basketball
So 4 of the 5 biggest team sports

It's pathetic.
The smallest select girls' basketball bracket had every team automatically make the quarters and the top 2 teams had a bye until the semis

You have teams with 6-25 records making the playoffs and getting beat 89-25

How is this better than before?

Private schools were recruiting Public schools best players to fill their trophy cases. Public schools got tired of it and told them play each other

. Both were recruiting. Many’s principal wanted an easy path to win a title and convinced others to destroy Louisiana prep sports. Fair play had nothing to did with this. This was simply a way to have an easy path to win a title.

Now prep classic attendance is way down and we are close to losing the marquee event. Private schools have already pulled out and public schools aren’t making money

LHSAA is run by people with general studies degrees from Southern and Nichols, travel ball dads and fat public school female principals who are bossed around by the football coach.

When your kid is in 7th grade, move to wherever you want them to go to school. Problem solved.

Even though the public schools caused the split, it’s the private schools that have decided to quit playing public schools. Not saying I disagree with them, but that’s definitely the case. You’re starting to see them play a lot more, simply because there isn’t enough private schools to fill a season, especially in sports that have 30 plus games.

The split is only for playoffs, other than the Catholic League in greater New Orleans, the rest of the districts in the state are still mixed. The simply play in separate playoffs. The vast majority of schools in Louisiana are non-select schools and their principals overwhelmingly supported the playoff split.
Football was not enough and in 2014 they voted to expand it.
Publics control the LHSAA and have the votes to pass whatever they want. This blaming of select schools, as I see in this thread, bothers me.

Culcha ruining the public schools and forcing people to choose between a crime ridden, poor public school, or spending more money to send your kid to a private school than you would spend on your kid to go to college, but you would get a good education and your kid gets to play for good athletic teams. I blame culcha for ruining it
