Time for some new material

I was a lazy dumb arse in HS and had to make up a class in summer school at Carroll. There was culture at Neville too, but Carroll’s culture was on another level.

There may be a former Carroll band member that is more famous than Shack or Benoit. Don't know any, but their band is what they are known for these days.Union Parish doesn't have a band anymore, so Carroll's band played for them in the state championship game in 2023. They even got rings.

Carroll's band gets Union Parish state championship rings on KNOE TV

ETA: Carroll's enrollment is way down. They were 4A when I was in high school. Now they are barely 3A.

My understanding is that 15 years ago Southlake was like white and they prevent multi family housing to keep the school good.

Now I have read they have a large Asian contingent. Wonder how that will affect foootball.

I regretted having to go to summer school for sure. Waking up early when I could have slept in.

They said on the radio today they had 43 kids. Not great, but not a fire worthy offense. It's a 3A school. Not like they'd have to play Iron Man with that many kids.

And that’s without charter schools coming into Monroe like they have in other places…

Early 2000s had some good teams with Brandon Landers at QB

Landers is also one of the coaches that was fired in that short time period.

He actually had them playing good football and then there was a big blowup between Carroll and Franklin Parish(I believe)that led to him getting in trouble with the law and getting fired.

I want to say there was a fight in the stands during or right after the game ended.

Franklin Parish sheriff inserted himself and arrested Carroll coaches for cursing…in the press box while coaching…that lead to a big brouhaha and the Carroll staff on the field going across the field and into the stands to get their fellow coaches. It happened during the game. Ruined a great season for Carroll.

Coaches should be under the sphere of the athletic office

Their Asian population has skyrocketed but it has no bearing on their football. They are the preaseason #1 team in 6a with 20 returning starters back from a state runner up team

FTD may be able to answer better, but I don't believe this is the case. I'm a member of a local bulletin board page up that way just for information because of my hunting lease, and IIRC it was more of a spat between the band director and their FB coach and the Carroll band stepped in. That was some material on the FaceBk when that one was going down. Band parents vs Football parents in a small town...gold...pure gold.

The Union/ Farmerville band has mostly been small and pitiful, IMO.
