Tom Watson losing the 2009 British Open in a playoff. Was an incredible story and could’ve been one of the biggest moments in golf and sports history.

The Braves beating the Pirates in the NLCS in 1992.
Worst part was long time Pirate Sid Bream scoring the winning run. He was a nice dude and felt good for him, but that was brutal.
It’s only gotten worse over the years, since the Pirates have been a laughing stock for now 30+ years following.

And it isn't close. Only positive is that it makes everything else seem tame in comparison.
If it weren't for that I'd probably say something like Yeldon screen play, Howie Kendrick HR, or something like that. But now when those things happen I just think at least it isn't as bad as the No Call.

Romo fumbled the snap for a go-ahead field goal against the Seahawks in the playoffs.
We all remember, but these days, I think most Cowboy fans realize Romo was an excellent QB overall.

The 2019 AFC championship game against Tom Brady and the Pats. It was Mahomes second best season, he won the MVP, and we were this close to winning the SB, but Dee Ford jumped off sides on what would have been the game winning interception and then lost the coin flip in OT, Mahomes never touched the ball again, and the rest is history. That Pats team would go on to win the SB 13-6 against the Rams.

There was 1:19 left on the clock when the ball was snapped. FG takes about 5-6 seconds. Hawks were out of timeouts, but that's a decent amount of time to get down the field.

The 2012 SEC Championship Game is the one for me. Back to back titles in 21 and 22 took a lot of the sting away, but that was just a cruel way to lose an amazing football game.

Wisconsin losing to Duke in 2015 National Championship.
ETA: Michigan State hailmary to beat Wisconsin in 2011 is another that sticks out. If that doesn't happen, I doubt Wisconsin loses to Ohio State and they end up playing for a National Championship. That offense was lethal.

It should or rather must be events from childhood; if you're listing a sporting event that you saw as an adult, then you still sadly see the world like a child. Sports are not important like they're when we are young with myopic brains.

2008 NCAA tournament. 1 seed UCLA(Kevin Love, Darren Collison) beats A&M 51-49 in the second round. Aggies were up at halftime, UCLA takes a 2 point lead with 9 seconds left. Here's the final drive by Sloan to force OT. No foul.
UCLA got 12 seed WKU in the Sweet 16 and 3 seed Xavier in the Elite 8 to make the Final 4. Those refs are real bastards.
