1988 in a tropical storm. It was a big district game. The local paper and tv station make a big deal about and hyped the game all week. We decided to play on Thursday to avoid said tropical storm. Storm comes early and we played in a torrential rainfall all night. Our starting OT, C, and TE decided to somehow sneak beer to school and get drunk. No one had a clue. I remember getting in the huddle for the first play, and it smelling like the Anheuser Busch brewery. I broke my nose early in the game and blood was flying everywhere whenever I made a tackle. My grandparents 50th wedding anniversary was that Sunday, and we had all these family portraits taken. My nose was crooked and swollen. Family members look at the photos every now and then and laugh. This was the last year before the AIDS/blood deal where you had to leave the game, so I stayed in with blood pouring everywhere. I looked in the mirror after the game, and I looked like Larry Csonka. To make matters worse our starting QB goes down and I'm the backup. Since we were behind our coach decided to throw every play, and our drunken linemen aren't blocking a swinging dick. I proceed to get pelted play after play. At least our OT would call my name to let me know I was about to get body slammed. I still believe if the ground wasn't so wet and muddy I'd broke a limb. If it'd had been on a hard, dry field there would've been no give as I was getting destroyed. I would sink in the mud as three 250 pound linemen were triple sacking me. We lost 36-0, and missed the playoffs. I did, however, make the front page of the regional newspaper making a tackle on their TE across the middle.

I played on a losing team in high school. We never won more than 4 games in a season through all 4 years.
The worst loss, however, was junior year. We lost 66-12. What made the loss worse was that right before that game, we started the season 2-0. That game was the game of the week. It was on tv. We even had a pep rally at the school 6 am, that was televised. We got on tv guaranteeing that we would win and we were pretty doggone cocky about it as well.
The game was never even close or even competitive for that matter. 60 of those points were in the first 3 quarters. If they kept starters in, they probably would have hit 80.

11th grade vs. Mountain Brook in football.
our coach at the time Paul Crane use to play for Alabama back in the 60's.
so being an alum, he organized a trip for our team to go to the BYU-Alabama season opener in 1998.
the night before we played Mountain Brook in Birmingham and they kicked the shite out of us. Nobody cared about that game on our team.
it was 38-0 but it could have been way worse if they didn't pull back.

It was not against my team, as we were the perpetrators. In 1989 we defeated a particular district team in baseball 44-1. Their only run came off a lead off homer in the first. The game was called after 5 innings. We beat this same team 23-0 in our other game against them. We out scored them 77-1 in our 2 games. I remember being on 3rd and asking the coach do I score on a passed ball, he replied, score. Not to run up the score but to respect the game and make the opposing team make the play. It’s disrespectful to “give” someone something not earned. We went on to lose district that year by 1 run in spite of our fire power, and we lost in the playoffs to Parkway. It was a wasted year. We had LSU national champion & major league player Russ Johnson and several other smaller college players on our team. We should have gone further than we did that year.
On a side note, Russ and several of us ball players put together a 1 pitch softball team to play in the beer tournaments (before Jesus days) on Friday nights out at Gator park in Satsuma. We had to get a old man to play with us to claim the prize. If coach would have found out he would have ran us till we dropped.
Those were fun and much skinnier days

In 1987, my high school baseball team was up 24-1 going into the B3 and lost 37-33. I remember us all clowning and laughing in the dugout, and someone jumped up and said," Everybody better shut up and get serious because they might come back". It was silent for about 5 seconds then everybody started busting out laughing. We came back in the T4 down 27-24.

We were a 1a Catholic school in Mississippi that played another 1a school in our district 3 times that year, Utica high school. Don’t really remember the scores, they weren’t even close. That team lost 1 game all year to the Mississippi 5a champion, highest classification at the time. Lost by a basket then beat that team later in the year by like 20. They had a 6-8 forward that signed with LSU but didn’t make the grades to get in, a guard that was Jackson st. starting quarterback and a guy named Doug Hartsfield that was an all-sec 4 year starter at Mississippi State.

2004 5A Semis - Evangel 45 / Slidell 5
Some of the Evangel players looked like something out of Space Jam. Was brutal, Matt Forte or no.

Game 3 of the 3 game state championship baseball series was called due to rain in the top of the last inning and we lost by 1 without getting our final at bat. Had poured in unplayable conditions all game, to the point both teams scored because routine pop ups couldn’t be seen because of rain in the eyes.
D 2 championships started the next day on that field, but never got a great explanation of why we couldn’t play elsewhere and finish the final inning

I was leading a very large national golf tournament by 1 going to the last hole. I was also being followed by about half a dozen major college coaches.
I 3 putted for double to lose by 1.
Legitimately thought my dad was going to cry standing next to the 18th green. It was the only time in my life that I could tell he was hurt for me.
That was 21 years ago and it still bothers me.
The guy that ended up winning almost made the Ryder Cup team last yr.

39-0 a week after a hurricane Gustav in 2008.
We returned to school on Tuesday, game got moved up to Thursday because of another hurricane rolling in. And then it rained on Wednesday. Basically had one practice then went and got our shite pushed in by STM.

I remember our first basketball scrimmage my freshman year. We were a 5A school playing a little 3A school from a podunk town on the road. One of the assistant coaches told us before we got off the bus how we were the big dawgs and these guys didn’t belong on the court with us…We got absolutely killed like 68-40
Ended up making the playoffs and winning a couple games but coach melted on us the whole hour bus ride home

Got beat 15-0 my freshman year of soccer. It was our first year fielding a team, had enough girls for one sub, and we had to play the three-time state champs (who won it a fourth time that year). Miserable.

2019 - CHS loses to Rummel in state championship game, in part because Yulman stadium did not switch out goalposts (cost Bears 2 FGs that would have been the difference).
