How do you think Chalmette would do in the Baton Rouge District or the Ascension Parish district. In football as well as other sports?

Mid pack at best

We just went 6-2 on the Northshore and were thisclose to 8-0… not gonna say we automatically win it (especially the BR district with several elite teams in it) but you’ll know we were there

What seed in the playoffs did that 6-2 record against the mighty Northshore get you?

You’re acting like the AP-LP district has Catholic, Central, and Zachary in it…

Ridiculous to charge Karr's students to attend their own home games.

I’m trying to understand this as a Texan that doesn’t know how athletics fully operates over there.

Does Edna Karr have their own stadium? If so…how in the hell does a visiting team have the right to control whether they charge for students or not?

If Edna Karr shares a stadium…who is it with? Who owns the stadium? Who operates it?

In Texas, many facilities are operated and owned by the school district. The superintendent and upper admin determine things. If Karr shares a stadium that is operated by NO Public schools, then they should make the call.

Unless they signed some bylaw saying they will charge, that’s bullshite. I’d tell the team coming to my house to frick off and that my students are getting in free.

Well considering that district has 5 of its teams in the playoffs…. Your district champ is a stout 20th seed.

Just went and looked at y’all’s schedule…. The best team yall beat this year had 4 wins

this year, no. They have a field behind their school that may possibly become a home stadium, but their crowds are probably too big for that now.

Behrman is owned by the city of New Orleans and Karr and Landry are the two main tenants. Occasionally other teams play there.

(THIS IS A BIG REASON WHY THE CATHOLIC LEAGUE WANTS CHALMETTE. WE OWN OUR STADIUMS. THEY PAY TO RENT STADIUMS FOR EVERY GAME THEY HOST. THIS IS WHY SHAW BUILT THEIRS, WHY TEAMS ARE PLAYING AT ZEPHYR FIELD NOW)

The not charging students thing is probably in the district bylaws which spell out things like admission price for district games, tiebreakers, who the chairman is, how they do all-district voting, etc. I’m guessing teams have to sign off on them to be put on the schedule and eligible to win district honors.

Reality is the rest of the state is breathing a sigh of relief that we’re out because we could have very easily ruined someone’s season. We were the lowest seeded quarterfinal team last year and a lot of those kids were back this year. Our winning season streak is still alive at 11.

I’m so sure Ruston, Central, Destrehan, Neville etc. are relieved. More like pissed off that they don’t have an easy stepping stone to the next round.

Speaking of Destrehan… since it appears yall need some help with scheduling quality opponents. Why not play them every year?

This is how it was most of my childhood through high school years. The only wins most seasons was against Grace King and St Bernard

I think Chalmette would be lower middle of the pack in football. Behind DS, STA, EA, and DTown but competitive with Walker, LO, and P’ville. I also think Chalmette would finish middle of the pack for baseball. 5-5A is a tough baseball district, top to bottom.

Overall, I think Chalmette would compete but find itself finishing middle of the pack in most sports. 5-5A is a deep district

Thank You for your realistic take…I tend to agree with you for your football take. However, I honestly do not know much about Chalmette in baseball. How has their recent playoff success been?

Semis matchups have arguably the best atmospheres in Louisiana prep football. Two teams giving it their all for the right to go to the dome as raucous fans in the bleachers watch.

It's especially electric if the home team hasn't been to the dome ever or in decades.

It’s interesting….

No one gives a shite about Karr in other sports, so why do people think other schools want them out the Catholic League? Even in basketball…

Not sure. I know that STA, LO, DTown, all usually have solid squads year in and year out. The rest of the district is competitive with no easy outs. It’s probably one of the top baseball districts in the state from top to bottom

This is the strange part to me. If the “football district” is made up of schools from multiple “school districts”, why on earth would there be these types of bylaws? From a football rules standpoint, everything is governed by the state. I assume you all might coin flip or something to determine a neutral site playoff game?

Outside of that, I still can’t fathom a private school trying to dictate something to a public school when they don’t have any claims to the stadium or its operations.

Yes, that is definitely the toughest baseball district in the state. They churn out college prospects.

FTR I have nothing against chalmette. They have never done me wrong as my Alma Mater has never lost to them in anything as far as I’m aware of. I just don’t understand some of the outlandish takes and topic domination on this board for them. Some people believe they are the Bishop Gorman of the state. I just don’t get it. Be happy you make the playoffs every couple of years in this watered down era and move on.
