They are 6-16, recently swept by Old Dominion. They are currently riding a 6-game losing streak. They haven't been a national title contender in a while, but always a consistent winner. Is it time for Graham to hang it up?

shite,, whats not wrong ?

defense has been shite
bullpen non-existant
there have been injuries but that doenst explain 16 losses
the offense can be decent but not enough to overcome these issues

the team is young thats the only thing that keeps me going to the games

also the baseball scholarship issue is catching up to Rice
With more schools investing in the programs and our academic restrictions and high costs with partial scholies means good local players are going elsewhere

Well, he's not wrong if we're talking historically.

Rice was great late 90's and this past decade.

In 83 years of Southwest Conference play, Rice finished in the bottom half of the conference in 72 times. Rice finished in last place for 24 of those seasons. The highest Rice rankings in SWC regular season play were second-place finishes in 1984 and 1994.

That's Oregon football stuff...which was total dogshite until 1994...had some good seasons and then became great in the 2000's like Oregon football.

not being miami, lsu or ut doesn't mean RICE hasn't been a powerhouse

You are acting like Rice is a power

They are as good as their coach and I guess he is finished so therefore their program is finished

It is somewhat like Coach K and Duke

Can they replace a legend UCLA should know 30 years later they still are having that problem

...says the guy who thinks Miami football is on the verge of being 'back'. The Canes baseball team is off to a shite start as well.

Rice has been one of the best programs since 2000, not that they stunk before. They should have been to one of the CWS title series in 06 or 07. That's not a flash-in-the-pan team.

Rice hasn't been any good since Owlfan posted Cole St Clair dad's letter about how mean LSU fans are.

True.

But he said "traditional power."

That's a short time though. Is Oregon Football a traditional power despite being one of the best teams the past 15 years?

Late 90's to now is really really recent.

I guess this a disconnect. There are a lot of people on this board who think college baseball didn't start until the 90's.

It has a long rich history. Just because some can't reconcile that fact doesn't make it untrue.
