The pitching mess is understandable. We saw that coming a mile away, but the batting?

20 + games in and guys can’t hit .200.

WTF

All I can figure is that they played way above their heads last year. It doesn’t make any sense.

Well, they were not going to hit like last year, it will even out though and they should finish above the league average....

Ozuna certainly won't hit like that again, it was his career season

Fried, Anderson, and Smyly have been not great / bad so far. Soroka doesn’t look to be back any time soon

Ozuna and Darnaud had career years last year and were due for regression. Albies, Swanson, and Freeman are down too. Riley and Pache / Ender are what they are on offense and that’s consistently below average for now

Our bench is actually playing well now, but they have to be among the weakest in baseball

Bullpen went from a strength to a weakness. Let Melancon and Greene both go and replaced them with Nate Jones. Martin has been hurt and Will Smith is not a closer. Way to lefty heavy with no power right handed arms

Regression has not been kind to them.

It's 21 games in. They'll be fine.

Now come June they are still in this position, then it'll be time to panic.

You rely on Freeman and Acuna.

Swanson should be a steady.

Ozuna was kind of a desperation signing.

Josh Tomlin as your main RHP bullpen arm is laughable.

Soroka was really the reason for optimism going into this season. In theory if you get last years hitting and pitching (or close to it) + Soroka the team is significantly better.

Now obviously every player other than Acuna has regressed. You just have to hope that players will start to hit more in line with what we expected. I will say that Freeman is really the only player I am confident will fully turn it around. Ozuna/TDA are not going to have the same stats as last year.

20 games in and I officially declare that the 2021 Braves suck.

I hope they turn it around, but I'm not terribly optimistic.

I don’t get it. You can nit pick and say “well this guy had a career year last year and he’s not going to do that again” but nobody is expecting that. The problem is the entire lineup hasn’t hit a lick all season except for Acuña. How can a lineup that is this talented stay so ice cold for so long? Time for all of them to get their heads out of their asses and earn their salaries.

Braves have a deep farm system still, or a lot of grads?

Might have to deal for needs. Problem is, it's 2 early for the usuals to throw in the towel, so might have to wait a couple months.

The biggest problem is the offense is not hitting. There’s no dealing that can fix that. They have the talent they want in those spots. They just aren’t performing. It’s all mental and they will turn it around eventually but they can’t let this team-wide slump drag out any longer. These are valuable games that they will need in September.

I will say they fricked up not bringing back Melancon and now could stand to acquire a reliever.

not like what we used to be or where we were 3-4 years ago. A lot of best guys havent panned out. Soroka, Fried, and Anderson have been good and are young, but need to stay healthy.

This thread is a prime example of why you shouldn't consume baseball like football. You will blow your brains out 20 games in, oh wait........

21 games in people. No proclamations can be made either way. Love how I get 4 downvotes for being the voice of reason. I mean Christ.
