Bama/Notre Dame fight for the last spot.
Too easy.
Too easy.

None. If Wisconsin wins out, they are in. The only way an undefeated team from a major conference would get left out of the current playoff is if all five conference champs were undefeated and one team was mathematically excluded.

I don't care what anyone says, but an undefeated Wisconsin team is not getting left out of the playoffs. Their schedule is not great, but they would still have a win over Penn St or Ohio St. Both of those teams are still really good(despite the Buckeyes completely falling apart on Saturday.
1-loss Wisconsin is easily left out. Undefeated, they are in, period.

Could easily be Michigan State if they win in Columbus this weekend.
Would that win be viewed the same?

I think the better question is whether a 12-1 Alabama team who lost to UGA in the SEC Championship game should get in.

Undefeated Georgia beats undefeated Alabama by 1 in a thriller in the SEC Championship Game.
Notre Dame 11-1
Clemson 12-1 ACC Champs
Which team is Wisconsin going over?
I presented that scenario.
Who are you putting Wisconsin in over in this scenario?

As for the question in the OP, I'm reasonably sure we won't have to worry about a 13-0 Wisconsin team. They're simply not very good.

1 UGA
2 Notre Dame
3 Clemson
4 Oklahoma
5 Wisconsin
6 Alabama
Alabama's best win would be, what, a 3 loss MSU team? 4 loss Auburn?
ETA - If the committee sticks to their guns with respect to resume, and, to a lesser extent, conference champion, that's how it would look IMO.

They would have 3 wins over top 25 teams, and a close loss to the #1 team in the country.
Not to mention all the metrics the committee uses to form their objective opinions on teams. Alabama will likely be way higher than Wisconsin in terms of offensive and defensive efficiency.

But that loss still puts Oklahoma in, IMO.
Alabama needs the SEC Title more than UGA.

quote:There is no "dropping", it's a complete re-rank every week. I can't remember the exact scenario, I want to say it was Baylor, who was in the top 4 after the first ranking, won all their remaining games, but still got left out. Not that I cared -- the point is, it's not a matter of setting the top 4 halfway through the season, and as long as you win stay in the top 4.
So they'd drop them from 1 to 5

So you wouldn't have Wisconsin in the playoff in this scenario

It was TCU, and they dropped them from 3 to 6.
That had a lot to do with the Big 12 and their shitty "one true champion" bullshite, though.

No, I think the committee sent a pretty clear message about Wisconsin last week.
They don't control their own destiny. SEC winner, Oklahoma, Clemson, and ND would all have more deserving resumes.

and the thing about it too.
Fat Barry is no longer on the committee so he cant white knight for Wisconsin in the discussions

The season didn't end last week. They've been very clear about how they do the rankings every week.
This isn't difficult.

Notre Dame is ahead of Wisconsin if they finish 11-1.
you've already admitted that Clemson is ahead.
You don't think there's a chance the committee could break that room with 12-1 Alabama over 13-0 Wisconsin? Or 12-1 Oklahoma?
To say it's impossible is asinine.
