re: What in the world is going down in Waco? (Update: Player found guilty of sexual assault)

This should cost Briles his job. It won't, and its a shame.
It is one thing to have kids screw up once they are on your campus, it is another to actively recruit kids that have violently assaulted women before then ever set foot on your campus. Briles is getting to a Bob Stoops level of recklessness (just google what Justin Chaisson did before he ever arrived in Norman).
If you have a daughter, how could you even begin to consider allowing them to attend Baylor or OU?

Yep, the man is beyond reckless. According to the TX Monthly piece a BU LB was convicted in 2012 of sexual assault, 4 witnesses said he had attacked them as well. That victim was a scholarship athlete and surprise, she lost hers after the trial. That was one of Briles' boys, same MO and only a year before he signed the Boise St. castoff. If I were the girl's parent I would sue Baylor and Briles for millions in damages and guarantee we would win.

The kid needs to be let go whether he's found guilty or not. This shite is happening EVERYWHERE because they treat these kids like rock stars. It's a bigger issue than just Baylor. To think otherwise is foolish.

Too much money in the game. When you pay coaches like Fortune 500 CEOs there is tremendous pressure to win and keep that job. Most of these guys are not that smart but they are crafty and excellent BS ers. They will do most anything to survive.

Yeah Briles is a fricking dick like most really good coaches

Briles said he talked to Boise head coach Chris Petersen and was never told of Sam U past violent history at Boise.

Briles says he talked to Boise St. coach Chris Petersen before signing Ukwuachu and was no mention of anything except player was depressed.

The whole thing is just really sad. I wouldn't be surprised if McCraw (Associate Dean for student conduct) was the scapegoat in all of this.
It's definitely making more of a national impact now with Dan Wolken writing about it in the USA Today.

I agree she could be the scapegoat. They will say her investigation wasn't thorough enough. Oddly, the Waco PD agreed with her initial investigation that there was not enough evidence to charge Sam U of rape when they conducted their own investigation.

I also hope that Briles didn't know and actually made inquiries. I know a lot of people want him canned right away, but I think some of that has to do with him being a talented coach. One of the biggest mistake by the coaches in this whole thing IMO was Bennett coming out and saying he expected Ukwuachu to be part of the team in the fall. It just made it seem like they weren't as concerned with this as they needed to be.

Does anyone really think Chris Peterson will take the fall for Briles?

He says he did but unless Petersen backs that up, all we have is his word. Many won't take him at it.
Those leading the charge for his firing seem to be UT fans.
Bennett did make this worse. Apparently, he was speaking based off the internal investigation and the Waco PD investigation, which both said there wasn't enough evidence to convict. Well they both screwed up and were wrong. The AG office filed charges and got this thug convicted. He is going through sentencing now but I hope he is in for a long time.

This will be interesting to see. I hope the media asks Boise State athletic department (specifically the Boise official that had thoughts this could be occurring) and Petersen as well.
If Briles is lying and he knew of Sam U's violent past and still took him in, then he has to go.

Nah. Sam U just needs to be locked up. No program is innocent when it comes down to it. You recruit athletes who think they're above the law due to how the public perceives them and this is what you get. It sucks and it needs to change. The public and media is what makes these kids think they can do anything they want. Until that changes this will continue to happen.
The Baylor hate here is ridiculous. Get used to it, we're here to stay and the school and team will rally back from this. It's a dark moment for sure, but this won't define anyone other than Sam U.

WTF is that a screen shot of your computer?
This getting good.
Briles says Petersen didn't tell him about the alleged assault in Boise. Petersen says he told him everything in the "disciplinary record." Assuming they're both telling the truth, did Boise know about the alleged assault of the girlfriend in Boise?
Was the alleged assault on the girlfriend a part of the disciplinary record? The ex girlfriend testified that she didn't tell the police or Boise about the assault. Doesn't mean Boise didn't have any idea that it occurred.
