It varies from year to year but this time the least amount of scrutiny would of came from a 6 team playoff.
8 team would have been Ole Miss/Moo State debate and 2 team would have been Oregon/FSU debate.

Getting shutout 30-0 to Arkansas is not something you can just overlook.

eight would be great, but not necessary initially...but money will win out, and four first round games better than two.

Looks pretty good. First two rounds should be on campus at the better seed.

Why imagine an 8 team playoff? Stay. At. Four.

Love the idea of the first round on campus and then going to the current rotating bowl setup. Need to incentivize being a high seed and would help travel issues.
Make it happen!

2012 would've been tough, also ...

This makes for way better matchups than the current bowl system and would be far more fun to watch on TV.
The day we get a round of 16 with 8 top 16 matchups across a weekend will be couch nirvana![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbow.gif)

I think Bama and Miss St. would play for it all

As much as I have said I don't want an 8-team playoff, I must say that bracket looks pretty badass.

I don't see how 6 will ever happen. Giving a team a first round bye is just way, way too much of an advantage.
As for 8 teams, I believe it would take too much away from the regular season. I cannot think of a single instance where the #8 team in the country has a legitimate claim to be deserving of the national championship. The playoffs should be just big enough to capture the absolute best teams in the country, and 8 is too many.

Yes. There will always be snubs. There are 68 teams allowed into the NCAA tourney and there are still complaints.
It will not stop, ever.

That would have been an epic postseason. I don't see how anyone could argue that Michigan St (assuming the "least qualified" team on that list wins it) would be an unworthy national champion with a 13-2 record with wins over Bama, Ohio St, and Oregon.
It would be difficult to put the right 10-2 teams in it most years, though. But it would always make for an great tournament.

But 6, as logical as it sounds, would create a storm of controversy too (who deserves the byes? Who is getting left out).
8 would be great too. The reason that 8 is legit is because we get to validate the top teams. The teams are forced to play other top teams...since schedules are not the same across all the teams and conference strengths differ, you would force the cream to rise. Win three straight against the perceived best teams to earn the crown.

Number 9 and 10 would be bitching.

I think 8 is the perfect number. Still think the committee has too much say.
5 conference champs + 3 wildcards would be cool.

I think it will add teams soon. But it's not going to matter 4 or 8 or 65. Someone will be left out.
Look at NCAA basketball tournament. Always two-three teams complaining.

How Many games do you want college kids to play?? 15 games for championship is even too much.
