that came off wrong

i mean those who are against those biased in favor of the SEC

there hasn't been a bias against the SEC since UF-OSU in the 06 title game

quote:

The Big-10's problem is the falling population in the rust belt means there isn't as much talent to go around as there once was when the conference was awesome and most is going to OSU

it's just not a fertile recruiting region

there is literally 1 state the produces top talent, and it happens to be Ohio. Penn and Mich are ok, but UM has to get a lot of its regional recruits from Ohio (PSU also) and PSU relies on the VA/Maryland area heavily. even OSU dips into other areas though

when you slice up California 3 ways, it's one thing. when you slice up Ohio 3 ways, it's another

it's not impossible to have super talented teams. OSU in 2002-2003 (long list of drafted players) and 2005 (talented as frick). it's just hard

the real frickup conference is the ACC. no excuse with all the talent in the coastal southeast + florida. without changing anything except coaching, they could almost automatically have 2 elite teams in year, year out added to the spectrum. then they could have their top 15 schools like VT and Clemson sprinkled in most years. instead they have talented teams who are mediocre and VT wins the fricking conference. it's a shame

Wouldn't UT had made it had they used the SEC tie breaker?

Yes.

As for this year, OU returns only one starting o-lineman. Texas returns 4. There is no better barometer for gauging success than returning o-line starts. Texas is going to slaughter OU.

As for Ou as a whole, Stoops won a title with someone else's recruits but since then, with his own kids, he has done nothing but embarrass the Big 12 on a national stage.

Lets' just be realistic now. If UT or TTU would have played Florida last year instead of OU it would have been the same outcome. THIS YEAR IT WILL BE ANOTHER SEC TEAM AGAINST ANOTHER OVERRATED OHIO STATE A CRAPPY BIG 12 TEAM OR THOSE BOYS FROM THE SO CAL AND IT WILL BE THE SAME OUTCOME.........SEC WINS

Once again, do not confuse UT with the rest of the Big 12. We generally win our bowl games, including 3 BCS bowl wins in the last 4 years. 0U are the choke artists.

please explain how TTech doesn't belong in the conversation. they had 1 loss and beat UT, ya know?

I'm with you. The only explanation I've heard is some crap about the Texas-Oklahoma game being neutral site, Texas-Texas Tech being at Texas Tech, and Texas Tech being blown out by Oklahoma.

I actually don't have a problem with the Big 12 3-way tiebreaker that people complain about. If it were only a 2-way tie and the 2 had played each other, then I would have a problem with it. But that wasn't the situation. The tiebreaker puts the decision in the hands of the voters (2/3 of the decision anyway).

I think the Big Ten even went ahead and adopted a similar rule for the upcoming season to determine the conference's Rose Bowl representative when 2 teams with identical records that haven't played each other tie for the conference championship. Their old rule was just to pick the team whose last Rose Bowl berth happened longer ago. Now that was a stupid rule.

Sometimes I feel like people on this site only see about 2-3 teams as worthy opponents. From this thread:

USC plays no one
tOSU plays no one
UT/OU play no one
Big East/ACC have no good teams

So basically there are 4 good teams out side of the SEC, but since they are the only decent team in their conference they really aren't that good because they never beat anyone

lol I was thinking the same thing while reading through this thread.

Actually, I think first, it was who played the least 1-AA teams (which is also extremely stupid), then if it was still tied, the last to the Rose Bowl.
