What happened to va tech?

I thought fuente was the next big thing but they have completely fallen apart this year. What happened hokie fans?

Couple things that are stirring:
-Beamer is still a strong presence in athletics department. So Fuente doesn’t have control of some aspects
- One of those is keeping Bud Foster on the staff. I think there’s disagreement there.
- Fuente has struggled with getting his players and system in place. Culture change is hard and they are just in the middle of it.

pretty much. I know a guy (kinda second hand) that works on teh staff at VT and from what I understand Fuente is awesome and he's got the system down and he can do great things there he just doesn't have the jimmies and joes. If they can improve their recruiting they'll be in the ACC mix again but right now they're just lagging behind.

He's in year three, culture change shouldn't be an issue at this point. Sorry, not buying that.

I think VT has a huge identity crisis. They have no clue who or what they want to be.

Frank Beamer was Virginia Tech. Its a very limited school, with very limited resources, competing in an uphill battle.

While Frank Beamer is VT and did make them
VT is not a limited school and definitely does not have limited resources
They have everything there to compete on the regular

VT has a good in state recruiting base for starters

They have just as many resources as Clemson. No reason for them to be down this much in a terrible ACC. I wonder if Fuente is a better tactician/coach than he is a recruiter. Beamers staff was really good at identifying diamonds in the rough.
