Big part of it imo. Everyone has alternate uniforms and cool helmets now. That was a huge advantage a decade ago.

It's hard to get 4-5 stars to go to Oregon. Always has been. Chip did a good job getting them there and used speed for his gimmick offenses.

The Arizonas sucked
When USC was good, Oregon was suddenly 2nd banana. And then--what a shock--they got good again after USC got probation/Kiffin/Sark!
Then when Stanford was good, they lost to them about half the time.
There was a time during that whole Oregon era where Oregon State was competing for and playing in BCS bowls. That says a lot about the state of the Pac 10/12 this century.

defenses caught up with that gimmick offense is a huge part of it too. u can only run wr screens so many times, it seems like about half the teams they play can shut it down

Got athletes there with fancy uniforms and an exciting offense. They were out front of the uniform revolution but now everyone does it. Oregon doesn’t have the same shine that they did 10 years ago

Losing Willie Taggert will set them back even more. He was recruiting at a high level. It was a huge blow to lose him.
