SEC - set
B10 - set, but may grow to 16
ACC - set, but may grow to 16
PAC12 - set, but may grow to 16
B12 - May expand to try and stay relevant, but if the other three leagues expand they will pull from the B12 remnants

MWC - Set, but may go Eastward into CST depending on what happens with the AAC
AAC - Expanded to 14, looks a lot like CUSA 2.0 but with no Houston or CIncy
SBC - Expanding to 14 looks to be 1 A/B with MWC of the other conferences Marshall and ODU adds make it a viable MBB conference
MAC - Set, they like their current makeup. May only add if ESPN wants to administer the death blow to CUSA
CUSA - A lot like the SBC in 2012, most of the top was poached as well as the names. Latech, Western Kentucky, and UTEP are all in a tough spot. Look for them to add some independents New Mexico St, UMASS, etc to get to 8 and then make calls to the FCS programs that can afford to move up as this shakeup and the CFP expansion may be the last chance for some FCS schools to move up for a while.

The Big Ten needs to add Oklahoma State and Florida State.

Kansas and PITT are actually the teams that make the most sense with their AAU designation. Both also fit into the footprint.

I'm more interested to see what happens with the Independents, with CFP expansion FBS independents may go the way of the DoDo. If the B10 swang for the fences and added Notre Dame and Kansas realignment would go off the rails (even more so than currently).

I give the edge to the MWC over the Sun Belt because they have more flagships, even if they are from small states… Wyoming, Colorado St, Boise St who is now the only FBS team in Idaho…, Nevada and UNLV…, New Mexico… those are a different type of G6 than someone who is clearly a second tier option in a state with P4s…

My predictions:
SEC - set at 16 (16 becomes new standard size for ACC, Big 10, PAC...)
ACC - at 14, adds Notre Dame & WVU
Big 10 - at 14, adds Iowa St & Kansas (both AAU)
PAC - at 12, adds Houston, KState, TX Tech & OK State (Baylor, BYU & TCU religious affiliations exclude them as options)
Big 12 - Baylor, BYU, Cincinnati, TCU, UCF remain and add 7 best from AAC
AAC add top tier CUSA, CUSA adds top tier SunBelt
MWC w/ minor changes...

I tend to agree, but the SBC East is stacked if ODU can straighten things out. App, Costal, Georgia Southern, JMU, and Marshall is as strong a division as you can get in the G6. Georgia St and ODU also will have years where they are a bowl caliber team.

Iowa State is also an AAU member.

I think the SBC has positioned itself perfectly to be the best g-5 conference.

They took programs with a solid floor and history like Southern, app and now Adding JMU, and Marshall to that. They didn't chase markets and the product is much better for that.

Texas state and Georgia State are two massive schools that with the right coach could be great programs.

Yep, I forgot about Iowa St, maybe because they just feel like a B1G school already.

I can't see them adding a second team in Iowa, especially when the Hawkeyes are already the more well-known brand nationally.

I wonder if the Big Ten would consider Syracuse. They were AAU until they left in 2011 (same year Nebraska was kicked out). It would help tap into the NYC market they want and would be a huge get for B10 basketball to add them and Kansas.

The Big Ten will never add Iowa State. Never. Iowa has the larger fanbase in Iowa. Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota would also oppose. Iowa State does not add more revenue and no new area or market. I doubt Pitt will ever be added because part of the deal with Penn State was that Pitt would never be part of the Big Ten. Jim Delaney's dream was adding UVA and UNC. ND if it agreed to all sports would be added even with Indiana and Purdue in the same state.

Since the 1990s Syracuse has had plenty of opportunity to ask the Big Ten out on a date and they never have.

Why would the Big 10 and Pac 12 add those teams just to get to 16?

The PAC 12 has better options within its footprint especially, but no ones going to 16 just to go to 16

Those 2 conferences are especially upset over SEC adding OU and UTexas. In fact, playoff expansion may be tabled over the issue.

So, if we stay at 4 playoff slots, as time passes a likely scenario is still 4 Power conferences at 16 teams each.

Those programs already in P5 conferences will bring the most cache (plus time zones) - ensuring that the Big 12 is picked apart amongst those other 3 (ACC, Big 10, PAC) adding to get to 16 teams.

The only question to ask with regards to who will the Big Ten add is who brings $100 million per year of additional TV revenue to the table. If you don't grow the pie by that much you are taking a cut of existing members payouts.

Iowa State? That's laughable. Texas and OU dumped them to the curb because they were parasites. Same as the rest of the Big 12. Nobody wants them because they don't add enough to the pie. It's a G6 conference now.

Notre Dame brings enough revenue. UVA and UNC would be good adds. Other than that the BIG isn't adding anybody.
