I’m too young to have watched LT - Junior Seau is the best lb I’ve ever seen and it’s not close. Furthermore, he was the best in the league playing both inside and outside.

I say Lawrence Taylor. Whoever you want to put at #2 isn't really even close.

Derrick Thomas was in his neighborhood.

They both peaked at 20 sacks, they both averaged about 13-15 sacks during their peak.

I’m not arguing he was better, but the gap wasn’t as big as most people remember.

Seau was relentless and highly intelligent

Love Thomas but he was strictly a pass rusher. LT was dominant in coverage, vs the run and in special teams.

Gretzky, Phelps and MJ are the answers here IMO.

Another good one. JJ Watt, too.

Lots of guys have Smith/White over LT, too.

Again, nothing like Gretzky and the gap to #2.

So shocked you have no clue what you’re talking about when it comes to sports again. OP was clear about position being the qualifier but you don’t know the difference.

He brags about not even knowing what defense the Giants were running at times. I’m not arguing he wasn’t a gamechanger in every sense of the word, I just think in terms of actual production others are close to what he did.

He had the talent to be what you posted, but he didn’t have the mental attention on or off the field to achieve what Phelps, Gretzky or Jordan did.

Bellicheck said sometimes he’d be sleeping in a meeting so he’d wake him up and ask a question about the D, LT would walk to the board and draw up the whole scheme for him. He knew exactly what they were doing he just freelanced a lot.

Esquire - DT Was Alpha Peedator
quote:

“At times,” Taylor wrote in My Giant Life, “I didn’t even know what defense we were in or what the offense was doing. But I always told the coaches, ‘When I make mistakes, good things come of it.’”

He didn’t play within the system so they had to just cut him loose and scheme the other guys on the field to account for him not being gap / role / scheme disciplined.

Again, he was the most talented ever to play the edge, he was just also an undisciplined drug addict who relied on pure talent to achieve what he did instead of building on that talent to reach his ceiling like Gretzky, Jordan and Phelps.

Are you stoking out on stupidity? You don’t know the difference between a 5 tech and an OLB because you don’t know anything about sports. LT had over 100 tackles 5 times in his career because he played LB. Comparing him to some hybrid edge in a hybrid defense or some interior Dlineman who moves outside a little bit just shows you’re clueless the same way you are about basketball.

He had over 100 tackles 5 different seasons. Thomas reached 70 twice during his career. They were similar as pass rushers but Taylor was a much better Linebacker.

did Michael Phelps have a position? lol anchor?

He was the GOAT at the butterfly stroke. For swimmers I guess you could categorize them by stroke.

Likewise for tennis you could distinguish by playing surface:

Clay = Nadal
Grass = Fed
Hard = Djok

For Track and Field, it would be events:

400 Hurdles = Edwin Moses
Long jump = Carl Lewis
100 = Usain Bolt
High Jump = that Cuban dude in the 80s
