I used to play lunch ball 3-4 times a week. After an hour of full-court runs, there were ALWAYS people cherry picking because, well, dudes aren't in shape to run the court for the whole hour.
Guys that cheery picked in the first game generally got picked on the rest of the hour their excessive drinking the night before.

I played 21 with the teenagers from my nieghborhood recently, and they have added a new rule to drag that game out forever. Tip ins zero the shooters score.

I'm just the opposite. A 3 is worth 50 percent more than a 2, not double. To me people that want to play by 1s and 2s must struggle with basic math.

no backcourt is a good rule. shite happens and the game doesnt need to be totally ruined just because the retarded kid i picked up got trapped again and is actively trying to lose this game.
i also hate "shoot for it" situations. it's a decent way to get everyone to shut the frick up, but it's annoying. i know you dont think you traveled, but you took 8 steps and have never even heard of a pivot foot, but hey still your ball.
lastly, first game to 15. what is this shite? first game on the court so i gotta wait 10 more minutes?why?

My pet peeves:
-wrestler/fb player that doesn't know how to play defensive without putting his hands and body all over you. I'll take it for a while, but if I have the ball and he s fouling the shite out of me, finally I'll just call and check the ball again just so his spastic arse will stop.
-people who don't roll on a pick and roll
-any type of carrying call. Over the back. illegal screen. basically anything non-shooting or non-injurious that no one gets a real advantage. This is pickup ball.
-prefer 2s and 3s. 2a and 1s encourages players to jack up shots.
- this is a new one for me in Los Angeles, as a defensive player you can't call your own fouls. this is dumb because sometimes Im going to want to foul you to stop you from doing what you're doing. Let me foul you, and stop the play. Don't make me foul you HARD.

exactly.
The best thing ever happen to pick up ball is the running clock. After 20 mins whatever team is winning is the winner. I find that people play better and keeps the bullshite calls to the minimum.

I like to play the D calls the foul.
If someone fouls you and doesn't call it then game on to foul them.
I find it more honest that way because we try to keep it clean and fair.

We just take it to the top and check the ball.
Also if the offensive player DOES call the foul and they make it, it shouldn't count. If the D calls is and it goes in, then it counts

which leads to mine -- people playing on an inappropriate court. Look, if you are 25 and still in great shape, don't take over another court full of old guys with beer guts and bad knees. We know you're better now, we just wanna play against guys of our own ability level (that goes for people trying to step up to a higher court as well -- no one likes you).
I've had five knee surgeries, three back surgeries, and two foot surgeries. I'm held together by duct tape and sticky tack. I just want to play against guys in a similar state of disrepair. I'm not going to the top courts anymore. Just let me bang on the inside and hit my spot jumpers against my fellow old guys.

it's cause most people don't know the rule. to be fair, that's kind of a freak play so it's understandable how people wouldn't know what to do.
I think that call and the shots that hit the side or top of the backboard have created the most confusion in the places I've played
