A six or eight team playoff is beyond overdue.

Would love to see this happen in a year or two and have it timed with a release of NCAA CF video games on the PS5, XTwo and PC.

but who wouldn't love to see this playoff at the end of the year?

Lots of us. while those are great match ups why should anyone care what happens in the LSU-Bama game this week? The loser would be better off since they wouldn’t have to play UGA in the SECCG. Of course UGA could get screwed by losing the SECCG and risk being knocked out. What about the Penn St -tOSU game in a couple weeks? Same story who cares and the loser is probably better off.

yup 100. can't go more than 6 total or teams have incentive to lose and avoid the conference title game

And risk losing a higher seed? Teams will not lose on purpose. That is some of the most retarded thinking ever. "Hey lets lose so we have to play a run of stronger teams." said no coach or player ever. Especially in a single game eliminator.

I swear you guys do not think.

They do since they are a FBS participant. I mean give me one solid reason based on fact, not opinion that they do not deserve a chance?

You can not, because you are Classically Conditioned to think that only certain people get invites and that 24 teams is too many, when in fact it works for EVERY level of amateur football but one, because they are greedy. If the lawsuit in the 90's headed by OU and UGA would have not been settled, there would have been a 16 team playoff in the 90's.

Just because some greedy Presidents says it does not work, is not the reason.

Exactly. These 8 team playoff people want to create meaningless matchups between highly ranked teams in November.

No one would lose on purpose but they would still be better off in many cases. For example would Bama play Tua this week? Maybe but maybe not. Get him fully healthy, beat Auburn and the are in at 11-1 as what, they 5 seed instead of 2. and no risk of injuries vs UGA

I'd still prefer to see 5 conference champs regardless of record and 3 wildcards. That would make the season and conference schedules more interesting. Maybe need to shuffle up the conferences a little to balance them out.

If you did 8, guaranteeing a spot for the P5 conference champs would be the way to do it but you'd still have teams that could benefit by not playing in the CCG.

true but theyd have to still be top 5 or so, so I don't think it would be anything crazy. What would be interesting is when you have a 4-5 loss team take out an undefeated or 1 loss team in the conference championship. But that would be part of the fun imo. like a play in game for conference championships. with the 3 wildcards to keep some teams that dominated all year from getting screwed

I like 4 as well. I wouldn’t hate 6 because I like the idea of special seasons getting rewarded with byes. I also feel a bit like less is more with these things and hate the idea of teams on the lower end of the top 10 getting a shot at the title.

You must hate the NCAA basketball tournament.

I'd add the requirement that only conference champions get the Top 4 seeds, and possibly that the seeding would be adjusted so that teams from the same conference could not meet in the first round both the LSU Bama loser and the OSU PSU loser could not be a Top 4 seed no matter what.

It's 25 degrees, windy with a good snowfall right now. It's only Nov 6. You're all cordially invited to come on up for a quarterfinal playoff game up north.

An 8 team playoff with first round home games is a fantastic idea. Make the P5 champs an autobid and it would make it even better. Winning your conference should be a big deal.

why?

I’ll never understand this position. If you don’t like more football when there would be nothing else to watch, don’t watch them. It’ll be the same as if they didn’t exist.

what i mean is say a team is 10-2, ranked 6 or 7 and another 10-2 but they lose to unbeaten #1 in the CCG, they would drop and be out and team that was say 9 before but didn't have to play in the CCG would move up
