I mean, this choke was historical by all measures. There is no comp in basketball.
The Knicks trailed by 17 points with less than 9 minutes to go.
Entering today, teams were 0-96 when trailing by 17+ points in the final 9 minutes of regulation of a Finals game since 1970-71.
The Knicks have just made that 1-96
The Spurs are the only team in NBA history to have:
76 or more points in the first half
30 or fewer points in the second half
...in any game, regular season or playoffs.
From last fall:
“Some people are built for this moment and some aren’t, we definitely are”.
Wimpy choked in this series.

Lets be honest, its great hate watching. Wimpy took all the choking pressure off of Chet choking in game 7. All the flagrant crap and league coddling Wimpy are historic. Even MJ had to earn his right over time to get calls but for some reason the league has coddled Wimpy and Spurs. If you have followed NBA for decades you know this isn’t normal.
And NY being such a huge sports market its bizarre how SA still getting favorable treatment. The way refs took Towns out of game in first few minutes last night was criminal. I suspect since ratings are breaking records league wants more games. So NY coming back to win overcoming the early refs and Wimpy choking was pure cinema.
So of course its fun. We witnessed sports history last night. And fans are seeing how Wimpy has been coddled this series so he won’t be the feel good story they pimped all year. He’s a dirty player.

Spurs may have swept if Wemby was more clutch. But in every clutch moment of their losses he pees down his leg.
This is the kind of choke job that follows you for decades. Will be interesting to see if they can recover. They’re not gonna set the record for threes in a half every night.
