I was right around 250 probably a month ago, but I was very wild. Worked on driver swing and gained 20 yards (and had a few touch around 300 each round), but still pretty wild, and missing right or snap hook left.
With the Cobra, I'm back down to about 250-260, but a lot more under control. So hopefully I can work on adding the distance back again. I think I would have had some longer drives yesterday, but the course was playing no roll. Lush fairways, and kinda wet so not a lot of roll. I think I would have moved a few out to 280 on the back 9. I was really honing it in on the home stretch.
Got a tripod to put my digital camera for easy swing videos. Sick of using my iPhone and trying to balance it on grass. Really wanna work on my game this summer. At the point where I think I'm gonna have to work on my game, not just play a lot and get better.

Jakes, you don't have to worry about doing that you actually can play from the tips. Most of us really shouldn't.
Every time I see that picture it reminds me of a huge owl for some reason.

I LOVE golf
Can't wait to play in Gulf Shores in July... I think croacka talked me into peninsula... I'd still like to play kiva, maybe I can fit both in... Just kinda hard to do with an infant at the condo

We played at 6600 yesterday, but it played longer with no roll (lush fairways). It was a pretty good distance. You could cut a lot of corners if you wanted. I never cut a good one, so I had longer irons in, but I was striking so well it didn't matter.
Honestly, if you could play a consistent 275 yard drive down the middle, you would be able to go low at MSU from the tips. It plays short and you CAN hit driver every hole, but it can put you in bad spots. Hell, 250 3w down the middle will get you low as well.
I just gotta get the whole down the middle thing down.

Most of the courses/scorecards seem to recommend the tips purely based on handicap, not that it's right
Many of them say I belong on the tips, but I don't always play them. I'll tend to play whatever others want to play.

Even the tips aren't long enough for me

Works real easy and can be carried in your bag.

I usually find less trouble playing the tips. Say SM If playing up it causes so much more trouble for me.

santa maria plays just under 7000 from the tips, and it was very wet when we played friday and i almost had my best round....mostly because I took care of the ball and got it up and down enough times
thats not the norm for me....i can take care of the ball off the tee, but my short game is iffy....but as of late, its seemed to come around

I was just kidding about being short. I'm long. I just know I can be longererer

jeez
was the course empty?
playing a large group doesnt take that long....until you get to the green
all the marking and lining up putts seems to take forever...same goes for the tee box i guess

I always play the one ups at MSU if I get paired up. It plays too short for me, and I'm not that long. It lets you get away with bad golf shots, so I don't really enjoy it. It's nice to play it every now and then, but not when I'm trying to get better. Tips are the only way I'm gonna get better.
I had light 8i in the other day on #18. I stuck it to 8 feet but left eagle putt on lip. It was playing something like 410. Tips out around 535, and the tips give you a very narrow driving lane between pine trees. Drive gets exponentially easier as you go up on tee boxes. I'm kinda glad I missed. Woulda been a cheap eagle.
Two days later I chipped in for eagle on #3 with the back tees tipped out.

i know a lot of people say this.....but if theres trouble that driver brings in to play, you can always play a more accurate 3W and take the risk away
but i know you are one of the guys that belongs on the tips

I disagree. it has nothing to do with you getting better. hell a strong argument could be made that you may get better from playing the whites
