Bayou Desiard pulled their grass up and went with MiniVerde about 2 years ago. That shite is nice.

Seeing a lot people going with MiniVerde. Sawgrass has it.
Ill be working with it this summer. Testing it's shade tolerance while its being established. I'd love to work at a course when I first graduate who is resurfacing or converting their greens. A second wave of bermudagrass is coming along from when it first came along 15 years ago.
I noticed that the greens at TPC Louisiana looked very patchy at the Zurich. Looked like a lot of different colors of grass across one green --- dark green, light green, brown, etc. What causes that? Is that leftover from freeze temperatures carrying a little later into the year this year than years prior?
You can tell in this pic from this year how varying the colors are on the green:

lots of greens on tour look like that. They don't water them like normal to get the speeds they want. A lot of courses have to shut down to let the greens repair themselves after those tournaments, especially US Opens
ETA: and in that week those greens see more traffic than they see in a month under normal circumstances

It could be any number of things really.
Bermudagrass is poor under shade. Some spots might get a lot of spring shade.
Some of the Bermuda might have still been dormant since we had some cold snaps in the past month or so like you said. Probably the most likely case. Grass didn't get to fully green up before being interrupted by cold temps again.
Coupled with traffic and close mowing for tournament giving the plant stress.

you would be surprised how resilient bermuda can be though. one time while cutting the greens at 4 am a hydrualic hose on the middle reel under the seat busted about halfway thru cutting the 1st. I didn't notice until I was done with the green. about half of it turned brown for a couple weeks, still putted ok, then came roaring back.

I just looked up some pictures... holy crap... looks like there is more water than land on the course

That is the correct name for that place. Probably a 19 million to 1 lost ball to lost key ratio.

I can swing it around, but I tend to have the big miss at the inopportune time. Can add 4 or 5 strokes real quick.
I heard good things about that place, but never checked it out cause it wasn't on golfnow. Any idea how much that will run?
