I I'm not mistaken, for every inch over 5'11", you add a quarter inch in club length for the optimal length. At 6'3", I'd probably just add .5".
6ft is The standard for golf clubs these days. for every 2 inches over 6ft, you need to add .25in. so for 6'3" you could add .5in.

Ok yea I knew for every inch a quarter didn't sound right...I got the recommendation right though

so what about every inch under 6ft?

but seriously, I don't think it would hurt cutting a shaft down maybe .25in. But when you go any more than that you start to change the kick point or flex of the club from R to S, or S to X.
I would just try to flatten the lie a few degrees and strengthen the loft a few degrees.

if cutting from the butt this is not the case. This would apply to shaft tipping. Take a brand new graphite shaft it starts at 46", usually cut 1/2" to get correct flex, then the rest for correct length. Same goes for a set of steel shafts, they come .5" long for hard or soft stepping.
