Anyone played in a stableford tournament? Any strategies or suggestions.

Bomb it, go for broke, pull shots out of your arse for birdie, be aggressive on the green, and don't go home at the end if the day smelling like cougar.
You're golden.
You're golden.

My group plays stableford every week. What's your handicap? If you're a higher handicap, the key is to avoid negative points (triple or worse in my group) at all costs. Saving those points by playing for double bogey can make a big difference. If you're a lower handicap, I'd just say to be smart and try not to make worse than bogey.

I'm a 18 and the lady is a 30. I think the pro is going to tweak the scoring system for the women but idk if he is doing if for the men or not. I also don't know what tees the men are playing from so that will make a huge difference on how I play certain holes.

The good news is that your team won't need many points (subtract your handicap from 36 to get your quota). The bad news is that you'll probably need to play pretty well to make up for the inevitable triple bogeys that a 30 will make. It'll be really important for you not to make negative points pretty much ever.

I have to see how the pro is going to set up the scoring. There are 9 couples most of the women are 36 handicaps. A couple of the men are single handicaps and the other are around me or worse. I was going to just play for bogeys and pars not be overly aggressive. Hit a lot of irons and woods off the tee. Then hit drivers on par 5 and the couple short par 4s they have.
