Good job rocket fans defending a dude who ran in the stands to punch a fan. What if he ran over your kid trying to get to that guy? I wish Kobe would have kicked him in the junk pulled down his pants and

nah man....no reason for any of that. Kobe has bigger plans that just trying to upstage ron artest, he wants to win a championship.

You know I've never been a ron Artest fan either, always thought he was a angry punk looking to bully his way through the league...

Then Dukes on Houston Sports Radio made this analogy regarding Ron Artest and the incident in Detroit. Imagine, your in a bar or a house party or tailgaiting and out of no where someone purposely throws a beer on you. Would you not flip? Would you not address it? Would you not go after his arse?

I know I would.

And yes, it's a professional basketball game, where they are making millions, and should never ever cross the said boundry into the stands to try to harm a fan. The fans are the reason they have a job and the millions, but.....it's a high stakes game, the intensity is already high, the other team is threatening you and your teammates, your in the opponents place, and then someone has the nerve to throw a beer at you....

I'm not okaying his actions, but have come to understand how/why he was upset and went after the fan.

Absolutely I would, but a bar or house party is one thing. I don't remember to many bars being televised minus girls gone wild. Second They don't have kids in bars that can get run over by this animal. He is a thug 100%.

i mean i can agree he's definetly got some issues. i think a lot of it has to do with his upbringing. i'm just trying not to read the book by the cover and give the guy a chance...

i tell you one thing, he is one competitive sombitch, i can appreciate that, sometimes it seems like he is carrying the rockets just to keep the game close

So you hate him because of the palace incident or because of...

He is a thug 100%.

If thuggery is your condition for hatred then you probably hate half the league. Its ok if you hate Ron, you can just cheer for Battier.

I agree completely. But him running into Kobe like that just shows he just wants to bully you. I think he has mental lapses or something cause when he was interviewing he was like I just went to talk to him. I don't know about you but when I talk to my friends I don't run head first into them. We all know the guy can ball like nobodys business, but don't forget Tyson could also box pretty good between his mental lapses too.

Being in Houston I get my fill on Battier and have always thought fairly highly of him.

I listened to his interview on PTI 2 days ago and they were grilling him about guarding Kobe and how Kobe seemed to be disrespecting him and Ron and I have to say Battier handled it very professionally and sounded genuine with the things he said. so in my book, plus points for battier.

I dont' mean this to demean the progress Lebron has made offensively since he came into the league, but face it, Kobe has mastered the game of basketball on the offensive end. When he feels like taking over, not ron ron, not bruce bowen, or any of the wannabe Kobe stoppers can even slow him down....

And yet Kobe can't have a higher FG% or make more points per shite than Lebron? And what does "when he feels like taking over" mean??? Since Lebron is more efficient, does that mean Kobe purposely tries to NOT take over games??? Makes no sense to me.

quote:

But who do I want on my team in a big game, when the score is close, and we are going into the 4th?

The stats on 82games.com, NOT even close, Lebron pretty much destroys Kobe in the final 5 minutes of close games statistically. Shoots WAY better, and when you throw in rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, lebron does so MUCH MORE than Kobe in the 4th quarter of close games. It's pretty much fact. When teh disparity in the numbers is as big as it is, you can NOT just ignore that.

quote:

Kobe, because I know he can absolutely put the team on his back, take over the game, will hit all the big shots in the big moments....single handedly enforce his will to win into an actual victory. And he's done it over and over for years...

Again, I dont feel like linking cause i've done so a million times, but over the past FIVE seasons, which is a HUGE sample size, Lebron has hit MORE game winning shots with a substantially higher FG%.

I dont get why you and others just ignore that FACT.

why can't we just go with who the players and GMS say is the better player and leave it at that?

Again half the guys in the league didn't jump in the stands to punch some drunk Gobber who needed his arse kicked but not like that. The only reason the Artest thing was not as big a deal as it should of been was because no kids or seniors or handicapped people got injured, but what if they did? Would he still be looked at in a good light? I really doubt it.

you can name all the stats and facts you want jack.
i'm standing firm in the belief that kobe is still better offensively, if not the best pl and 90% of the nba veterens, current nba players, and experts will tell you the same. so, just keep throwing stats out, it's your time...

link? every time i see just about anyone in the media comment on the best player they name lebron. that includes all of the analysts, coaches, players, etc. kobe used to be the consensus number one, but he's noticeably declined in play recently. i think you rocket fans are overreacting after he scorched you.

also, i will say this. when kobe goes off like he did the other night against the rockets he's still the best offensive player in the game. but that has been an infrequent occurence throughout his career and happens very rarely these days

GMS

Let me find the players poll, it was even more in favor of kobe than the GM poll was.

it is obviously a rare occurence or he would be shooting better for both the regular season and the playoffs

Do you honestly think Kobe is the only player to have played a little chippy/dirty in the playoffs? please tell me you don't.

Its not that he threw the elbow...its that he threw the elbow and got a foul called on Artest....who then did what Artest does and got thrown out of the game for it.

I mean...Kobe can throw elbows....go ahead. But he should be penalized like everybody else. Most other people get suspended...Kobe gets a meaningless post facto flagrant 1. Great.

Did ya'll see how much Kobe was talking shite to him the other night? And how Kobe told the tv commentators that Battier couldn't guard him....all of this in a relatively close game after dropping game 1 on your home court.

Hey Kobe....you are supposed to win this game. Win it. Shut up about it. Talk some shite if and when you win a game in Houston, which you now must do to advance.

He came off looking pretty childish and selfish, IMHO. Its all about Kobe. It always was.
