LINK Words of wisdom from his mom when larger PWI's (he had 64 offers) came with their money:

" If a person tries to buy your talents then they think very little of you as a person & more of you as a product. Once that product ceases to produce then they just go & buy another one." - Alyne Payton

Mrs Payton understood the P5 process over 50 years ago & her son did not allow himself to be bought. And the open disrespect from many fans towards recruits & families confirms Mrs Paytons words that "they think little of you as a person"

Payton didn't need your Gold Trans Am & neither did his Pro HOF Teammates ( Slater & Brazile) . They could not be bought by schools who turn around & pretend that they " developed " them when a few years prior a National guard escort who have been needed to get them on a SEC Campus.

Sir, you didn't develop players like Shaq( who boasts about LSU payments), Eric Dickerson, Cam Newton, Reggie Bush,etc...... You bought them .

It would be considered “bad business” decision by our current money driven culture. Walter Payton is a man with or without pads on.

It also must be noted that, even though he was born and raised in Mississippi, not one SEC school offered him. Recruiting was not as much of a science then as it is now.

No. He was a POS who routinely cheated on his wife. He maintained a side piece even when his wife found out about it, would be gone for weeks at a time, and would basically live two lives…one for himself, and one for the public eye.

One of the best football players ever, but not a “man without pads on”.

Sounds better than

"If a person doesn't try to buy your talents then they are probably just poor"

So if LSU used up and spit out Shaq, as you seem to indicate, how come he has a regular presence around LSU and has sent his kids to LSU? Sorry those facts conflict with your obvious agenda and flawed narrative.

Florida “bought” Cam Newton and I’m sure they’d like a refund. He got busted for stealing a laptop at Florida and left without contributing anything there.

You agree with Alyne Payton. This interview is over 20/ 25 plus years old with Walter casually discussing turning down " P5" money in the early/ mid 70's. No agenda...he just simply answered a question about why he didn't choose a larger/ wealthier school.

I love that video.
