First two years were good. Second year would have been very good/great had Jerod Evans not stupidly left for the draft. Last year, they were playing a QB who transferred from Kansas because he couldn't start there once Jackson got hurt.

Three-quarters of their roster were underclassmen this past season. Throw in Jackson's injury and kicking off a starting DE who was one of the few seniors on the team, and they weren't going to be great.
Yes, Fuente is a good coach. It's not like VT has ever hauled top 10 classes up to Blacksburg regularly.

It's funny how some of yall bend over backwards to make excuses for a coach that had some buzz a few years ago. He's a mediocre coach and won't ever touch Frank Beamer's success.

They had taken 9 out of 11 from WVU when it stopped being an annual game. They didn't run from WVU, they got invited to join the ACC while WVU was stuck in the Big East.

In his first 6 years at VT Beamer went 24-40-2.
