Vince didn't have this "intangible?"

Mike Vick in college was like Allen Iverson for the 76ers. They both carried teams more than almost anyone I can imagine.

I'd love to hear a Vince Young speech. As would Comedy Central.

Fact: VY never lost to a Houston Nutt team and VY's plan B replacement.

Sure Tim has better stats and more championships but I saw both guys play in person and there was no one that captivated like like Vince Young

You're basically saying "frick stats and analytics, I'm going with the eye test". Not smart

Well yeah.. Just like I go by eye test instead of stats with qbs from a Mike Leach coached team?

Giving Tebow credit for that National Championship in 06 is absurd. He had 350 passing yards... for the entire season.

Well if you look at rate stats instead of raw numbers Leach's QBs aren't quite as great

VY and Tebow had the same number of championships as starters. And VY went undefeated and was far more dominant.

That UF 2008 team was led by the defense.

Tebow was better than Young, but no, Tim wasn't a great passer in college. He had outstanding receivers and an innovative offense, which opened up the field a lot. His receivers were a better college unit than when we had Landry and Odell. They used all of their players. Tim's intensity and leadership go along way when comparing him to other college qbs.

Neither guy was a great passer. They both had terrible mechanics, mediocre arm strength, etc. They were both throwing to wide open guys as a product of their surrounding talent.

Tebow by far had a more decorated career, but VY was much more deadly runner. If I had to choose one guy for one game, I'd take VY, his rose bowl performances are legendary.

I do agree that cam had the best single season of any qb. I can also buy an argument that Vick was better than tebow or vy.

I hate Texas and Vince Young and love Tebow, but I'll take Jr. Year Vince Young over Teeb's at any point in time.

Tebow is always in the Top 3 discussion with sportswriter discussions.

But I don't think Tebow beats 2005 USC because you had to keep up; Vince did...and mostly by himself...because Texas D didn't really stop anything until the final play for USC.

Leinart passed for almost 400 yards and USC rushed for 200 yards...

Vince passed rushed for about 200 and passed for about a 250...and beat a team that had won 34 games in a row.

Tebow lost three games in the 2007 regular season. That’s one more game than Young lost in all of his regular seasons. Leinart lost 2 games in 3 years. Young started for two years, Leinart for 3.

Back to 2005 Rose Bowl, Texas D gave Vince one giant stop and then he marched down the field basically by himself.

It took a special person with his size and speed and feet and strength.

VY has become mythologized because of the greatest game ever played but now I think that it's turned around...that he's underrated because everyone just focuses on that one game. Vince Young was Superman in college the entire year in college football. Texas would win games 50-0.

VY had one of the greatest seasons ever. And he was always a bigger threat than Tebow.

The big 3 of the 2000's for QBs is obviously:

Young
Leinart
Tebow

In whatever order. There's an argument for Tebow, considering Heisman and titles...of course Leinart who CFB news declared the greatest of the BCS era based on his crazy passing stats and accomplishment and of course Young who had one of the best seasons ever and certainly the greatest ending ever.

If just looking at best year, Young reigns supreme.

His 2005 season is up there with a lot of players...but trumps everyone by being a one man wrecking crew in the final game.

If you're looking at career than it's Leinart and then Tebow based on stats and titles.

FWIW...College Football News named Leinart, then Tebow, then Young...based on all information.

But if you ask, CFB fan...Vince Young was the most dominant on foot and air. Watching him be pressured during a pass and then effortlessly take off for a 50-yard TD run was amazing.

He was watching the evolution at the position...and the best during the 2000's.

This exact same conversation came up in the sec rant and not one person said vy was better than tebow.

It's nice to see its at least 50/50 here.

To be honest, if I was building a college football team, I'd take vy over tebow and it's really not a hard decision.

Another thing with vy, his stats weren't even that impressive during the 05 season.... In part because he rarely ever played in the second half. The only game they were challenged in was against Ohio state and Texas am.

another issue is plays

VY was shut down and yanked in so many games b/c UT was up big in the 3rd/4th

tebow, iirc, was not nearly as managed

vince probably played about 80% "real" snaps in 2005 and still was the first 3000/1000 guy in history
