Eye witnesses said he hit the gas right as he got to Ward.

That'll be hard to prove and pinpoint that it was 100% in fact him. It doesn't show it on that video and his defense will argue it could have been any number of the other cars rev up.

As far as his speed, he doesn't seem to be going any faster than the car that passes right by Ward before he does.

If anyone other than tony was in that car..... They would get jail time. Will see what happens.

Stout, I agree there is no way Stewart gets prosecuted for anything criminal. Too many variables, the nature of the sport, and Ward's aggressive attitude.

I think there will be a civil settlement.

This is Day 2. I wouldn't be so confident.

I disagree. All of the "evidence" is pretty inconclusive when you really watch and realize that Ward was chasing the car down sort of. The whole "beyond a reasonable doubt" would save anyone and it will save Tony because looking at it objectively you can see that Ward takes a lot of the blame too.

It would be different if TS did actually go chasing him but he didn't. The car in front of TS was just as high and fast as he was but again Ward went chasing Tony's car in the middle of a race track.

I'm sorry the dude is dead but he chose to get out of his car...he chose to work his way down the track into oncoming cars on a not so we'll lit track in a black racing suit to show his anger towards Tony instead of settling this in the pits...

Im not a TS fan at all but I don't see any race car driver purposely hitting another even if Tony did rev his engine to try intimidate him as people are claiming I state again...

He chose to get out of his car...he chose to work his way down the track into oncoming traffic...

Yes. His family will get rich off of it and Tony will lose sponsors and PR points.

They will probably change some rules including not letting many more 17 year olds race again.

Kinda hard to believe we only have 1 camera on this ordeal.

Unless there have been other videos released

Disagree. If it was anyone else in the car we wouldn't be talking about this. It would be a small blurb on the back pages of news or buried deep on the ESPN website. It would be considered a tragedy and nothing would result in it besides racing officials telling drivers they must remain in their car until officials reach their car to remove them safely from the track.

Very few people, if any, would be calling for the driver to get arrested.

I agree Stout. Maybe even when and how the guys can get out of their car after a crash. I know that is a tough one but guys walking around on the track during the caution is unsafe to start with. Then add ego's in there and its a dangerous situation

Can't believe he's even thinking of driving in a race today, nor NASCAR letting him. Not sure what that says, but it's not good either way.

Unless you read something I haven't...I seriously doubt he drives today at WG. Regardless of fault, I would think he would sit out just out of respect for the family of the deceased.

Disagree. He was definitely going faster. Was it him revving up? I don't think so. The video is from the other end of the track, it was more likely that it caught a car closer to it.

No doubt that will be the first one they look into. It all could have been avoided if the guy didn't go chasing Stewart down.

I hate to rag on a dead guy, but the whole time watching the video I am wondering WTF was he thinking. I have been to a lot of local races full of some pure ignorant rednecks and I have never seen anything like that. The guy went full derp for a moment and lost his life over it.

YES. Supposedly TS was wearing a GO camera which will me the most important piece of evidence in this whole case. Doubt we will ever see that footage.

ESPN said he plans on racing today.

No way should he be racing today.
