Im no huge race fan but it seems logical that when going around those curves your wheel is turned out to control the rear .To me it looks like TS tires are pointing right but his car is aimed down the track .Either to turn and miss Ward or whip him with his rear tire .Hmm

Stewart stopped about a hundred feet down the track. Emergency workers were there in second. Indeed, Stewart may have hit the gas, but you steer sprint cars with the throttle more than with the steering wheel. The idea that he accelerated trying to hit Ward is beyond the pale.

Yes at high speeds you turn the car with the throttle as much as with the wheel. But when you're doing 30-40 miles an hour, or however fast they were going, you don't use the throttle unless you want to fish tail it. You turn the damn wheel.

I doubt any of this matters because none of it will prove beyond a reasonable doubt that TS saw him. As long as he sticks with I didn't see him or saw him too late they won't punish him criminally.

There's really nothing he can do to convince some people he didn't do it on purpose. He will never be charged but a few people will always think he's guilty.

Might as well post this here, too. The visibility in these things sucks.

Well, in the name of being fair, that camera seems to be left of the drivers actually. Which would cause the right side view to be worse

you aren't going to convince the trolls, which I believe a couple of them are bored and just stirring stuff up.

Does anyone expect a surprise from the autopsy?

Like showing that Ward was on something? Not saying he was, but him running on the track was so foolish and irresponsible that I wonder if he was impaired in some way

Nah, as stupid as it sounds this isnt that uncommon in racing. Racecar drivers arent exactly know for their brains and level headed decision making

If the rear end broke loose and hit Ward, then I will consider him guilty of something (recklessness, ill will, wanting to send a message gone wrong, etc) unless someone provides a reasonable explanation as to why that would have happened under caution.

Seems unlikely to me that he just didn't see him or was unable to avoid a situation that ended with the guy under his wheels at caution speeds.

Not sure why he would be given the benefit of the doubt as to innocent intentions. There's a huge gap from completely innocent to murder.

You may want to change that flag next to your name.

Answer this: Why is it so unlikely that Stewart didn't see the guy until it was too late?

This is a message board. Not a court of law. There is no way I would convict TS with what I know now. However, with that said, I think he was trying to intimidate and screwed up. There is a difference between making an educated guess and what is required in a court of law

For me, I think there is about the same amount of chance he saw him as didnt. I honestly think both sides of the argument are 50/50 right now. We just happen to be on opposite sides.

I thought you needed it since you assumed him having an opinion was unamerican.

It is an attempt to determine through objective measurements, what happened. Including trying to determine speed, delta v, yaw, steering inputs, etc.
