Seriously, how hard is it for people to understand nobody is saying he does not have a right to do what he did?

Who said it wasn't?

What did he accomplish? Why can't he get out into the world and do something about it without drawing attention to himself?

Oh yeah, because it's about HIM.

Military born and raised

There are a multitude of ways he could have used his status as an NFL star to speak out on the injustices going on in the nation. He has the right to not stand for the national anthem and speak out against it, just as much as anyone has the right to ridicule him for doing so. I don't agree with his actions, but I understand them and choose not to make a huge big stink over it.

I would however challenge him to be the change in America. If he is so against everything that is going on, go out and give money to those in need to get them off the streets where they continue to make bad decisions. Use your millions upon millions to help fund local projects within the oppressed communities. Don't just literally sit on your arse and do nothing.

Exactly.

He doesn't have any problem taking money from the oppressive powers that be, he has no problem having a room for nike shoes most likely made through oppressive child labor. He doesn't act on his "beliefs".

Nobody has an issue with his right to stand up for what he believes, it is that his message rings incredibly hollow and his method of protesting is laughable.

I would think Being "for Kaepernick" is different than being for his first amendment right. I think everyone is for that.

A lot of people have acknowledged his right only to act like he didn't have it.

Good call. My problem with his protest is that given who he is and what he is, if he really believes this he's not doing enough.

Maybe he's doing other, more efficacious things I don't know about, if so good on him. But this is what I see, and this is tokenism.

The deal is, I don't think Colin Kaep's beef was ever with the military to begin with.

I haven't seen that at all. He 100% has the right to do what he did. Just like everyone that thinks he's an ignorant jackass has a right to voice that opinion. I've seen no one say he can't can't (or shouldn't be allowed to) legally do what he did.

Also, he plays football.... he's a football player.....he's not who anyone should listen to for social commentary.

That's the ironic thing. He's just sitting. People are pissed at him for sitting. They are the ones causing the uproar. He's silent. Not pushing his beliefs on others, telling others to sit. He's not even asking teammates to sit. He's minding his own business....sitting by himself.

That's my issue with a wealthy celebrity. I love that you care about a moral issue. But use your wealth to accomplish something.

This point is intentionally misunderstood by people I think. In saying this no one is saying wealthy people can't say whatever they like - its just when you have enormous wealth talking about problems without devoting yourself financially seems obviously empty of real effort.

Um a lot of athletes do things in the community and donate. You don'thear about it because the liberal media only report the thugs, bad stories. They dont show athletes volunteering, giving gifts, funding gyms.

Almost every feature on any athlete makes them out be enormously devoted to charity and doing good... five months later it turns out most of those guys spend 50% of their disposable income on strippers and baby mommas. Which is fine, but not consistent with the fluff pieces.
