Very few people in the history of combat sports are as talented as Conor

The guy is an elite talent in the history of Boxing/MMA. He is just so naturally gifted, so amazingly instinctual. He is lightning in a bottle.

Yes, his stamina has been shite at times, and when he just doesn’t care or isn’t locked in, he gets lazy and loses. But just the instincts and natural talent on that guy...it’s really entertaining to behold.

His hands, movement, and timing are top tier. His ground game is weak and exploitable.

A motivated Conor is a very good fighter. I think he can beat anyone at 155 except for Khabib.

No doubt. Which is why he is both so entertaining to watch and so frustrating

But no one gives a shite about Khabib. He’s an UNBELIEVABLE fighter but it’s robotic. He’s a total machine.

Conor WOWS people, which was a point a didn’t convey clearly or well. Conor will never be able to beat Khabib, but when he fights almost anyone else (when he’s actually locked in) it’s pretty awesome to behold.

Agreed. The hype for a Conor v Masvidal will be awesome. I want to see that fight bad.

I used to be heavy, heavy into UFC when I was younger but the sport changed for the most part when guys started focusing more on the ground game, using it as control and domination to earn the points and the decisions. It takes great technical skill to do that shite, just like elite boxers, but most of the time I found those just flat out boring unless it was more ground and pound and not wrestling intensive. Every now and then I found the grappling focused fight interesting but most of the time it wasn’t to me. A lot of laying on the opponent, trying to tire them out and keep from standing up.

I haven’t watched an MFA fight in years. I kind of want to get back into it but at the same time part of the reason I quit watching was the sport changing from guys like Chuck, Rampage, Anderson Silva, Forrest Griffin, etc. trying to knock each other the frick out to more technical fighters. I assume there’s way more of it now and guys like McGregor are few and far between. I assumed when a guy like GSP came around, a guy that could stand up and strike and ground and pound, that the sport wouldn’t be so polar opposite in style approach. Guys would be more well rounded like GSP was. But now if you’re a good grappler, like Khabib, you can dominate pretty much any striker

FIFY

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I enjoy mat work fine when there is active wrestling going on but when one guy is just riding the other in full guard with no attempt to pass and dropping just enough elbows to keep from being stood up is BORING. Nothing worse than an early takedown followed by 4:30 of riding with the defensive fighter just weathering the storm.

Speak for yourself. The video of him training with a frickin bear is crazy. Khabib deserves all the acolades. He'd make conor quit again tomorrow.

Your assumption would be wrong. It seems like everyone in the ufc has at least some decent takedown defense these days. Khabib is always gonna be able to take guys down because hes a freak, but other guys that rely on takedowns run into trouble when they get close to a title shot because to get the belt youre gonna have to stand and trade and do damage or you'll never get an opportunity to shoot for a takedown.

Jon Jones is talent the wise the GOAT of the UFC. Obviously outside incidents will hurt his legacy but he still does not have a true UFC loss.

Salty comment from a Conor fan. Khabib calls the shot in the ufc. Tells Conor to get the back of the LW line and Dana has to listen.
