It's pretty crazy.
To drive from NYC to LA directly, according to google maps, takes roughly 41 hours.
But if you went from NYC to ATL to LA, it would take 45, despite it being 14 hours from NYC to ATL.
I know that LA is a good deal south and pretty parallel to Atlanta across the map, but that route also shows how far west GA is from NY.
We were home in Pittsburgh for Xmas. While we were up there, my wife asked me if it stays dreary all winter? I answered "pretty much." I brought it up again at my brother and SIL'S house on Xmas morning and my nephew w/o hesitation said "we won't see the sun till June " And he's right.
Crazy.
