And you have to remember, no guy wants to beat the shite out of girls. You start feeling bad for them and just let them do certain things at time. If we really wanted to, we could have beaten them 100-20, but at times, we played like we didn't care and would only stay ahead by 20 or so, but you are always in control.

Yeah, and given you are practicing against them to make them better, not letting them do anything wouldn't really be of any benefit to them.

But fields at that age aren't full sized. They are between 70-80 yards long. A few of my kids kick goal kicks to around midfield and the goal kick is taken inside the 6 yard box.

So there is one other factor at play here that hurts the women that should have changes years ago, the smaller womans ball. I guarantee you once Dunham walk-on kid get adapted to playing with the smaller ball he would be the Steph Curry of the WNBA.

Actually I take that back, he would be the love child of Steph Curry and Allen Iverson relative to the competition.

I honestly would like to see it

Would all district level 1a Louisiana boys point guards dominate the WNBA like never seen before?

I would tune in

I watched games when a guy I knew(initials were DB from baton rouge ) would play against the girls a lot This was circa around 2008

i was playing around 2005-2006 against them.

Like the example the tennis player gave of playing like he was a 600 world rank, you have to let up a little bit to keep it competitive. If we really wanted to, we could have slaughtered them. I mean we could have played a game and blocked them 50 times, and that's not an exaggeration, but instead we'd only block them maybe 5-10 times. Men are that much more athletic than women. If i wanted to I could have gave them an alley to the goal with the intention of pinning their layup on the regular, b/c it's that easy for me to recover, but what's the point of doing that?

Man I didn't care about her being given the opportunity to kick but who the hell is she to give a half time speech about team morale etc.

At that point, she'd been on the team for 3 days and had never taken the field. She wasn't around for the 7 losses on the seasons, wasn't around for any camps. Shes literally a stranger to the team and has done nothing to endear herself or earn a position of leadership. Imagine if this wasn't a woman and some rando walk on kicker tries to lecture the team after 3 days. That don't fly.

So you think Tuba and Fleshman would have been the best player in WNBA history?

I have no idea who Fleshman is, but Tuba would be the best center in WNBA history, easily. He's just too big for them to stop him and he would only get better as he kept playing.

He wouldn't be the best PG, obviously.

Maybe we can adopt the Sarah Fuller challenge, where unathletic, middle-age men sporting a beer gut take to Instagram and YouTube to record themselves hitting 30 yard field goals and kicking off into the air. Then they can end each video with a rousing motivational speech as they challenge their friend to complete the task.

wouldn't a smaller, lighter ball possibly hurt some of the taller players with larger hands? I know that's been a problem for many of the huge NBA guys shooting a ball that amounts to the size of a mini-ball to normal people. I'd almost think the larger ball is, in some ways, easier for guys to handle than the smaller womens ball. I didn't play basketball past the 6th grade so I honestly have no idea. I could be way off

I would say the best ever soccer player in women could have been the 1,500th best soccer player in a particular year

More like 1,500,000th. Think of all the professional leagues in various countries and the different tiers. All players in the 6th tier of the English football would be better than the best female player, and these players have full time jobs like being a policeman or plumber.

I don't think any middle-aged out of shape male could kick as well as her. You can see that much when they pull fans out of the stands to try to kick extra points during halftime of games. But I think a middle aged former high school soccer player that's in decent enough shape could absolutely do it with a very small amount of practice. There are a lot of middle aged former players in my area that play in intramural leagues that may not be able to move great anymore, or at least not nearly as well as they could when they were younger, but they can still kick a ball just fine. And not to sound too ridiculous, but I think most decent 15-30 year old mens soccer players could kick better than she can with their off feet.

I never played organized basketball beyond 8th grade but was always a pickup game junky all the way through college. As a student at USL in the late 80s, I would play a lot of pickup games at Bourgeois Hall. Played against one of the starting girls bb players a couple of times and it was no contest. I’m only 5’10 and an average athlete for a male, and it was like guarding a kid. And I actually have a lot of respect and appreciation for female athletes having coached several softball players in high school who went on to play in the College Softball World Series. But the natural speed, strength, and explosiveness of the average male sets them apart from even the most exceptional females by a wide margin.

According to FIFA, as of 2019 there were at least ~129,000 professional soccer players worldwide amongst 187 countries that reported and 3903 clubs. I doubt that includes the developmental young players for the various soccer clubs in Europe and also wouldn't include any amateur collegiate/high school players either.

LINK

1.5 million may be a tad too big of a number but it's definitely a huge number of players.

Oh for sure. When I was at Southeastern one of the guys on my intramural teams girlfriend and sister both played for the women basketball team at SLU. They scheduled four or five scrimmages against us so they could get "better".

We would crush them every time. We were just seven dudes who barely played high school basketball if that. A couple of the girls were quick and there were some who could consistently hit open shots but if we played any kind of defense on them they had no chance.

When we pressed it was hilarious.

so according to their rivals guy, the players hated the publicity stunt, hated the halftime speech they got, and now vandy is apparently looking to ride with fuller as the kicker next week when they dont have to

now, multiple players are apparently going to be opting out because of it
Please, please, please let this be true.

I had a roommate that was on the men's squad they practiced against. Anyone that actually played for a collegiate men's team would beat her. I really can't believe you're trying to go down this road

Field I played on was 106. Verified it on Google maps earlier. I promise you you have more than 2 12 year olds that can kick 50 yards.

Yep, and like I said, it’s not that I don’t respect what they can do. I still enjoy coaching HS softball and I prefer going to Cajun softball games over baseball games because of my familiarity with the sport. But it is simply an indisputable fact that males are routinely much better athletes than females. Why else would there have been a historical need to segregate the two sexes with regard to athletic contests.

So, you think that 1a all district pgs. would be the WNBA GOAT no discussion needed?

No fights, just asking

I don't believe I made that a particular claim, but it wouldn't shock me honestly.

ETA: I don't know much about walkons that didn't play but get to walk on, so I can't speak for that.
