Krueter is gonna run that program into the ground. Sad thing is he has had decent talent come through there.. Green, Stock, Triggs, Oropesa. They still can't get to a regional.

it blows my mind how USC cant generate interest in baseball, not only given its history but having 10 million freaking people in the metro area

people out here just dont care about college baseball. i dont know one person who watches any college baseball. most people out here are all about pro leagues. before carroll got to USC most people-outside of alums-didnt care about the football team either.

yea I get that, but I dont understand WHY.

WHY, with 10 million people, isn't there 5,000 people who would show up consistently to games. I dont understand why they dont like it

I think generally in cities where there are pro teams if you're going to spend money to see a sport you'd opt for the top product. If you live in Columbus and are going to see a Hockey game you go see the Blue Jackets and not the OSU men's team, regardless of how strongly you're tied to the university.

In LA, not only are there two pro teams, but the entire city isn't closely tied to the university - I'd be interested to see what the attendance for UCLA baseball is. How about GA Tech baseball? I'm trying to think of cities that may fit into this pattern...

(edit: football aside)

The box says attendance was 281

.... but that could have just been "paid"

ETA: maybe it also included the players, coaches, and umps

That is like pre Skip Bertman days at the Box here at LSU. Isn't Chad Kruetter the coach?

USC fans couldnt even fill half of their football stadium before Carrol got there. USC fans just suck

Well maybe some of them do, but my arse stays in my seat until the final whistle blows. See some of yours in the 4th quarter of the Troy game for further details.

So with all this stuff about paying for the top product and whatnot...nobody has mentioned the fact that major leaguers are still out in Florida and Arizona. I guess fans in LA are too high on their horse to go ahead and watch ANY college baseball...even in Feb/March?

BTW: When GT is on tv, they have solid attendance. Not sure about UCLA, but they aren't a powerhouse program like USC...or even GT.

Here's the attendance statistics from 2008 for NCAA baseball. Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State both drew better than Georgia Tech in 08 FWIW.
