They are talented. It will not mean that LSU has to give back their 2 titles if you admit it.
I would vote them #1 right now, but there are some valid points in the first post. LSU's first two games last year were at least as impressive as USC's first two this year. LSU still managed to lose two games.

Point being, after two weeks they deserve to be ranked #1, but they have not yet proven that they will coast to the MNC game.

if USC isn't proven yet, then no one is, so they have earned the ranking

A team from the SEC will win the NC. USC will ckoke in a game kinda like the Texas vs. USC NC.

USC is not overrated. When they lose to Stanford or Washington or Cal, then they'll be overrated.

I agree grasshopper. We beat the shite out of Ohio State in January and Florida beat the shite out of Ohio State in January 2007. What's the big deal about beating the shite out of Ohio State?

Because the last two teams to beat the shite out of OSU were then crowned the National Champions. Am I saying that we should go ahead and give USC the Crystal? NO Should they be number 1? Definately. They looked very impressive while dominating a very good OSU team in every facet of the game.

Be man enough to admit that USC is a good team, and is not overrated (here goes a Sabanism) "relative to" the rest of CFB THIS season at THIS POINT of the season. Simply, they deserve to be #1 this week. I don't think they're GREAT or an unbeatable dynasty like others. Actually heard Courso say Saturday that Sanchez wears a knee brace to protect against a blindside injury because USC is "so far ahead of everyone else". WFT??? In the end, #1 will be whoever holds up the crystal football in January. Not sure we're talented enough in all spots to get there. We'll see.

Nobody has earned a darn thing yet. Preseason polls and polls based off of 2 games are about as well of an indicator of who is the best team in the nation as an ESPN opinion poll.

...anyway, now that I've expressed my opinions about preseaon polls I'll say that USC can have #1 now as long as it doesn't have any effect on the BCS rankings...oh wait, it does because one of those stupid polls is a factor in the final BCS formula.

My head is spinning. I just need to stop talking about rankings the third week into the season.

while i agree that usc should be #1. do you think that lsu could put up the same numbers against virginia(worst team in a bcs conference) and ohio state? I think so. Ohio State has still not done anything against a top ten team in the last 4 years. except michigan of course

I'll go ahead and say it.

They deserve to be number 1, but they are still over rated. If they were saying that they were hands down the best team in the nation that would be great, but I think ESPN would pick them in a game vs. the football playing androids that fox used to show when they were going to a commercial break. Any given game a team can be defeated. Let their starting QB go down and see how they handle it. They haven't faced real adversity. Do I think they will go undefeated? yes. Do I think they could take out the armies of Alexander the Great? No.

USC deserves to be No. 1 hands down.

One can only hope they choke at some point during the year so we don't have 565 interviews of Pete Carroll during the season and 5 times the droolfest that is USC on ESPN now.

I know that. My point being that the talking heads are tripping over themselves to praise $C for beating Ohio State, yet two SEC schools beat them just as soundly. Maybe the focus should be on how Ohio State was overrated.

Check the schedule, they still have 2 more.

How can you say that? LSU didn't put up the numbers USC did against App State and N. Texas (probably the worst team in D-1). USC is the best team in the nation RIGHT NOW! They have played 2 teams from BCS conferences and one was ranked in the top 5. LSU has not!

USC has put up 453 yds/game to LSU's 442 yds/game. While USC has scored 43.5 pts/game to LSU's 41 pts/game. Defensivly still the same. USC 205 yds/game & 5 pts/game; LSU 219 yds/game & 8 pts/game.

Now will this be the case at the end of the year? You can phrase it anyway you want or distort the facts, but USC IS the best team RIGHT NOW!

Look.. If we had a good QB like USC.. No doubt we are a #1 or #2 team..

The only difference between LSU and USC is at the QB position. USC deserves to be #1.. If RP was our QB, we would be #1 or #2.

This bit about them playing UCLA on 12/6 needs to be addressed by the conferences that have Conference Championship Games on that day. The extension to that date was orginally given by the NCAA for conferences that played championship games. The PAC-10 doesn't and they should finish their season the week before.

I hope the SEC, Big 12 and ACC will bring this up and stop this.
