Honestly, it doesn't work TOO often but it does work occassionally. And whats the difference between losing 2-0 and 1-0? A loss is a loss.

Pull the goalie and play for the win.

I think US wins 2-0 first junk goal on deflection...Empty net seals it with 30 secs left.

Do you have any picks for Powerball? I don't think you'll get it all the way, but 5/6 still gets me $500K, I think.

how often do you see that pulling the goalie actually works? or does it end up burning the team trying to tie the game more?

Probably works 10%.

You have a better chance of tying the game with 6 men and no goalie with 1 minute left than 5 men and a goalie.

honestly, the Swiss goalie must have had a hell of a game....USA had like 50 shots on goal compared to only about 20 or so by the Swiss

thats a pretty damn good game, isnt it?

Pulling the goalie doesn't work a whole lot at the top level, but I've seen plenty of extra skater goals this year in college hockey.

Hockey is not like any other sport...Its got a pace to it and momentum is king after midway through 2nd period...I make a killing on hockey bets up here...

I understand all that...personally I have never seen it work and damn near every time seen the team give up an empty netter...I was just curious...

it's like the onsides kick or Hail Mary in football, more of a gamble than anything else.

I actually went to the Jackets-Stars game a few weeks ago, and the Jackets were up 1-0, when the Stars pulled their goalie with 1:15 left. RJ Umberger (US would be the clear gold-medal winners with him on the roster! ) scored a diving empty-netter with just over a minute left to make it 2-0. The Stars then pulled their goalie again and actually scored with just over 30 secs left to make it 2-1 (eventual final). That was kind of weird.

It was still a good game but I'm a little disappointed in the US performance but I felt the same way after the Norway game, and my fears turned out to be completely untrue :usa: :usa: :usa:
