There’s a huge pool. Top 4 in this are usually a safe bet but there may be changes depending on the 400 hurdles and such.

Agreed BUT I'll also put some blame on Kersee and his weird aversion to racing. Running in a pack is a learned thing and requires practice too. You don't get that without racing often.
