I don't think the course was a problem, I think cutting the fescue back was a major mistake. The USGA will look back and regret that IMO. Seems like every year we're talking about a decision they'll regret.

So I guess you can't provide that list of the 1,000 golfers that hated the course huh?

You're a novice. You don't know what 1000's of former players are thinking like rakim does.

I get the OP is approaching this like sand paper but, all rhetoric aside, are golf fans really happy with 31 players under par and the top 15 all time scores littered with 11 players from the 2017 tourney?

I can't imagine purists and those that follow the game are honestly happy with this.

That type of scoring is a course issue and not rain and wind and the lack there of...the course is picked by the USGA. USGA fricked this one up big time.

My bad the past 5 winners posted these scores at US Opens at Winged Foot I love how you boneheads enjoy tarnishing our toughest tournament by giving this USGA your unconditional love & support for fricking our greatest golf tradition up

I was disappointed. Those guys should have been forced to grind but snowflakes like Na dont want to deal with the traditional issues an Open should present to them. The Masters never disappoints but more and more the US Open is not living up to expectations

Today's winner was 1 stoke/day better than last years at Oakmont. And conditions were soft.

I don't see what the big deal is here.

The players on the course this week know this was a complete embarrassment. You don't care and I understand but you don't respect the players before and that's okay with me. 31 players under par at a US Open is pathetic and shameful.

Because he wanted to watch bogey golf based on some score that's made up

I like to see good shots actually get rewarded. If you watched any of this weekend poor shots were punished. Good shots were rewarded. Narrowing fairways and tucking pins next to 150 ft slopes isn't rewarding the good golfer. It's rewarding the lucky golfer.

The US Open is also here to showcase the extreme variety of golf in this country. I enjoy the rotations like Oakmont to Erin Hills

If they had so much rain, etc. then there should have been plenty of rough grown. Why were fairways so damn wide? What happened to the 17 yard wide ones, not 67 yard wide ones?
Why were tees moved up?

I'm not sure why the USGA wanted lower scores and an easier test.

Some of you just won't get it because you weren't raised on the US Open. You have never worked or attended and have no appreciation for the history. If you want to throw last years score in my face then I suggest you reread the OP. There has been an effort by the modern. USGA not to embarrass the players. Sad you have no idea what's going on her but I can't walk you through history.

I can't speak for him but I would prefer for the USGA to strive for long-term consistency tying the tourney into its heritage and history from year to year.

Are people honestly arguing that the difficulty of the US Open isnt what has set it apart over its long history?

Then just make the US Open another tour event and not a major. This take sucks so bad my balls hurt.

You sir, are a fool that has never played competitively at a state or national level. I have, as have other posters on this board. What the USGA couldn't control is the weather and the course was wet. Total score doesnt mean anything as someone had to win. The USGA will get their revenge at Shinnecock next year.
