I already said I understand why Day is the guy, but “continuity” is a terrible reason to make a hire.
Well maybe one of the reasons he retired was because the coach was in place to ensure both continuity and performance.

Recruits have been reaffirming their committments this morning so it appears to be working.

I heard on the radio this morning they are comparing Day to L. Riley, hoping transition can be as seamless. Sounds like this upcoming season will be a tryout for Day.

It's gonna be a three year trial. Next year is rebuilding by buckeye standards anyways.

Hopefully LSU gets him in two years. Rest up Urban.

I detest Meyer too much as a human being to ever want him anywhere near Baton Rouge

As much as I would understand your thinking, didn’t we all have a similar sentiment with Lincoln Riley?

I mean at the same time USC was hellbent on staying with the Carroll coaching tree after he left and it has been dud after dud with them. I think someone already mentioned Helfrich.

Depending on if anyone leaves early (assuming Haskins and Bosa are the only ones), every starter on OSU’s defense has more eligibility, and only 1 player on the entire 1st-3rd team.

In addition, they’ll lose some WRs, but Olave really came on at the end of last year, and Hill (2nd leading receiver, Mack (who got injured), and Victor (big TDs against PSU and Maryland) are back. And Weber (junior) is likely back, and Dobbins (sophomore) is definitely back, so that’s 4100+ of rushing offense over the last 2 seasons back.

So depending on how well Martell transitions, OSU should be deeper overall than this season, especially on defense.

Edit: KJ Hill is back too.

I despised Meyer until he became OSU’s coach. Made me realize that I care about winning above all else and was a hypocrite to pretend that otherwise.

I would really like to think this is the beginning for them to become a non relevant CFB team like they were for all time before 2002.

are you 12?

Well Day was pretty much considered solely part of the Chip Kelly tree before OSU. So he’s got both Chip’s and Urban’s now, which is a good combo to have, in my opinion.

5 is standard for recruiting

It's still a three year trial

I don't speak for Ohio State fans nor do I speak for LSU fans. I'm just telling you how I feel personally. I said the same thing about Hugh Freeze last year when LSU fans wanted to hire him, and that was a generally unpopular opinion, although I have a slightly more personal feeling as it pertains to him being from Memphis

I felt the same about Meyer when he was hired; I was disappointed. However, I think if you look at his tenure JUST at Ohio State, the kids he recruited were generally good people who stayed in the lanes while at school. Zeke has had some off the field stuff, and Hyde had the one incident, but for the most part, the kids he brought in were of high quality.

The Zach Smith thing was a lifelong issue that came to a head the wrong way. Should have been taken care of much earlier than it was for sure

I have never liked Meyer and am glad to see him go. Day will do well but how well is TBD
