Yes

Plenty of posters question why it was ever played or even needs to be played at sporting events so yes it definitely matters.

None of 13 preseason and regular-season games played at the American Airlines Center this season have featured the anthem before the game, including Monday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the first played this season with a limited amount of fans in attendance.

The Mavericks did not publicize the anthem’s removal, and The Athletic was the first media organization to reach out about the change after noticing its absence on Monday. Multiple team employees described only noticing the anthem’s removal on their own, as it was also not announced or explained internally.

Cuban declined a request for further comment or explanation Monday evening. The Mavericks organization also declined comment Tuesday.

An NBA spokesperson told The Athletic on Tuesday that “under the unique circumstances of this season, teams are permitted to run their pregame operations as they see fit.” Other teams have continued to play the anthem at their home venues mostly with recorded video or audio, including games played against Dallas.

So it sounds more like they just aren't bothering with it this year since they have nixed all pregame functions.

In July, two days after saying he would kneel with players, Cuban tweeted, “The National Anthem Police in this country are out of control. If you want to complain, complain to your boss and ask why they don’t play the National Anthem every day before you start work.”

Yep, why aren't some here bitching about their work place not playing the anthem every morning? It's pretty much the same thing.

Why would they start up with this shite when things seemed to be quieting down with all the anthem stuff, etc.?

It actually is.

That's their job. They aren't playing international games. They aren't military. Why does a sports game need to play the anthem for a work event when a Wal Mart doesn't?

It's a public spectacle that is both broadcast and performed in front of tens of thousands of people.

It's not even remotely the same. You're being intentionally dull.

Nice late edit to get rid of what made you look like an absolute idiot.

Its an entertainment event.

Do they play the national anthem at every concert you go to? Do they play it at the movie theaters? Do they play it before game shows, plays, orchestras, the circus, dance recitals, etc etc etc?

You're the one being dull because you're refusing to even attempt to think critically about it. Why are sports so different from every other work environment or entertainment event?

I didn't edit anything out to hide. I decided to make longer response with a different post? I edit the frick out of my posts all the time. It's rare that I don't have immediate edits.

Do you even know why the anthem began being played before sporting events? When you come up with an argument like "why don't we play it before work?", it begins to make me think you don't have a damned clue.

On top of that, when I was in school we had the anthem and the pledge before school every morning so

You can lie all you want. I saw your dumbass line about whether or not the anthem was "sacred" or not. You changed nothing. You completely removed the entire statement.

Yeah, it was for some rah rah USA USA shite started during the World Series during WW1.

Why does it still need to be played before every sporting event? We aren't at war. We don't need to hear it at every sporting event to be good little Americans.

Why can LeBron body up a player in the paint, but I'd get fired for starting a physical altercation at my accounting firm?

The article above your post explains they haven’t played it once this season. Which makes it even better for some of the posters freaking out in this thread like their honor was just challenged

Maybe Lucka will shut the frick up after every missed shot now.

But it really is just a bitch move by a bitch team from a bitch city. Dallas is about as fake woke as it gets outside of Austin in Texas.

You certainly could have afforded to take the words a little more to heart based on your attitude.
