You've completely missed my points on this dude, but that's okay. My last post on it:

1) This makes the NHL look like a gimmick league like Arena Football. They have the same setup that the Voodoo have in New Orleans. How can one grow a sport in a major city when you've got 30% of an arena blocked off from a net?

2) Quebec is begging for a team. They're nearly done on construction for an arena that will be on par with Consol. They'll be the only occupant there and will have an INSTANT fanbase that is going to sell that arena out for years on season ticket sales. They fricked up once with the Nordiques and I doubt they'll ever let that happen again.

3) NHL > NBA in regards to asses in seats. That setup automatically puts the Islanders behind the Nets in those regards. Nhl had more asses in the seats last year and better average attendance. This hurts it by about 3k a night assuming NYI fields a team that is capable of selling out every night which they're finally on their way to doing again.

Good night.

As I said, not expecting much from the bruins tonight. 2nd road back to back of the season, and some teams haven't played 2 games in 3 days yet.

Not really, I just think you're going too far, it's really not that big or bad of an issue.

I don't think they're too worried about growing it in New York, as you said, Rangers run the town. This is more of a, "hey we need a new arena ours is the worst in the league and the city won't give us a new one so can we play in your state of the art NBA arena even though some seats will be obstructed?" Because it's still a billion times better than what they had before.

I agree, but this really has nothing do with the NYI. They were not and are not on the list of teams to possibly relocate. Florida or Arizona, sure. QC will get a team, it's inevitable and soon, likely within 2-3 years.

Yes and no. Their average attendance over the years is about on par with what they'll have at Barclays. They'll have about 1K extra in unused seats if you go by their average attendance the last few years.

One of my favorite gags on the MSB is Hog's continued insistence Fleury is a good goalie. It never fails to make me laugh.

MAF played in 13 games in the playoffs. 90% is the baseline level of competence for an NHL goalie. Of those 13 games, MAF posted a save percentage of 90% or worse in 7 of them. SEVEN. He did pitch two shutouts, but my God, is he erratic as hell.

As for Bob, 19 goalies started at least 4 games in the playoffs, which we'll call our starters (some teams split time enough to have 2 qualifiers). Fleury ranked 7th in save % of goalies with 4 starts (of course, this makes Mason the #1 goalie in the playoffs). Bobrovsky ranked 12th. So, really, both were middle of the pack. The difference is that Bob was awesome in the regular season and faced a pretty great Pens offense. MAF has a history of playoff meltdowns, but this was his best playoffs in about 5 years.

Niemi and Bryz were awful, BTW. As was Lehtonen.

Now, I shall go back to cackling over Crosby's penalty in the final 10 seconds costing the Pens the game.

Parenteau with the empty net dagger to make up for CP31's lack of focus.

Yeah they have good chemistry.

I wasn't crazy about picking him up in the offseason, but we are a better offensive team with him.

ETA: they must have just switched that line for tonight's game.

Our first three games were:

Max P -- Desharnais -- Gallagher
Galch -- Plekanec -- Parenteau

Yeah I miss Gionta.

I mean the dude was our captain.

Since Buffalo sucks, hopefully we can get him back this season before the deadline

What really needs to happen is buy our own minor league and change the law back to right of first refusal.

Gary is stupid enough to let us do it I bet.

Give him a case of Molson and free Bell service
