Since when did UNC and Wake Forest become a rivalry??? Doesn't that require one team to be relevant?

It’s a great idea.

Winston-Salem and Chapel Hill are an hour apart so travel is minimal and both fan bases could attend.

Also both are rebuilding so it’s not like either team is guaranteed a loss and both should be interested in the outcome compared to playing Chattanooga or someone.

So I guess LSU-Ole Miss isn't a rivalry.

Ironic that Wake Forest, a school affiliated with the Baptists, was the first North Carolina school in the ACC to serve beer at their football games.

ACC could solve it all with a charter/n00b divisional lineup.

Charter: Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech*, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia, Wake Forest

n00bz: Boston College, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia Tech

Wake has won 6 of the last 11 in the series.

This shite is so easy to google. Why would you ever ask a question like that when you can find the answer in a split second? Are you really not curious enough to just find out for yourself?

Amazing concept that Bama, Tenn, Auburn, & UGA can’t seem to figure out is an option.

OR...

Mix and match divisions by year, and keep several multi-team pods together at all times:

Tobacco Road Pod: DUKE UNC NCST WF
Commonwealth Pod: UVA VPI
Northeastern Pod: BC PITT SU
Sunshine Pod: FSU UM
IndePODdent: CLEM GT UL

Mix and match for divisions every year or two based on previous seasons’ conference standings. If next year’s divisions were:

1: BC DUKE UNC NCST PITT SU WF
2: CLEM FSU GT UL UM UVA VPI

Each of those divisions combined for 28 conference wins last year. Nothing wrong with improvising like this, if you ask me.

Wake and UNC have been playing football against one another since 1888. Not a fierce rivalry but definitely a Tobacco Road tradition.

In football the North Carolina team fans really only care about beating each other. Wake, Duke and NC State especially love to take one from the Tarheels.

They've both been in the same league forever and are in-state.

What the hell is there not to get here?

Much of the SEC was doing this 50 years ago to maintain rivalries and keep OOC games geographically close. This isn't a new concept.

FTR, there has only ever been two regular season games between SEC teams that were officially non-conference/OOC: 1980 & 1981 Alabama/Ole Miss. All other regular season games between SEC teams have counted in the conference standings.

This is the answer to the Alabama/Tennessee issue that has turned the SEC schedule into absolute garbage. Won't ever happen though

Well, it's one of the answers and, granted, probably the best one. It's not so viable in regard to Auburn/Georgia, though, due to GA/GT.

Another option – one that seems to be the favorite of most Bama fans – is to add a ninth conference game. Well, the SEC's media partners are not yet paying the SEC enough money to do that. A ninth conference game can cause difficulties in scheduling 7 home games, which SEC teams are completely addicted to.

Another option is to use impermanent divisions, à la the "Roommate Switch" model. Well, despite the fact that all "critical" annual rivalries can easily be preserved under that model using just 8 conference games, the SEC is not doing that and will not do that because it thinks that its fans are total morons.

Another option is to push for an CCG rule change so that the SEC may stage an exempt CG without divisions and without a conference-wide round robin. Except that's not going to happen because the SEC is addicted to divisions. What the SEC does now makes money and the SEC is too risk-averse to change.

So basically, as long as long as people continue to attend and watch SEC games, nothing will change.

I’m with you on our conference completely doing away with all permanent cross divisional games. And we rotate all cross divisional games evenly. It’s not fair that LSU gets UF and Auburn gets UGA every season. Plus I’d like to see Bama play Florida, UGA, Kentucky, Mizzou, and South Carolina more than once a decade. I’m not one of the “we can’t lose the TSIO and DSOR” fans.
