The Ultimate Fighting Championship handed out $30,000 bonus check for UFC Fight Night 20 in their first Monday night event in Fairfax, Va to Gerald Harris, Evan Dunham, Aaron Simpson and Tom Lawlor.
Fight of the night went to Simpson and Lawlor who put on a three round war. Lawlor had Simpson in a lot of trouble in the first round, but Simpson switched up his mode of attack and squeaked out a split decision victory.
The Knockout of the Night award when to Gerald Harris who had the only finish by strikes. He TKO’d John Salter in the final round of their preliminary fight earning him a bonus check.
Submission of the Night went to undefeated Evan Dunham who handed Efrain Escudero his first loss. After facing adversity in the first round, Dunham took over the fight with his ground game and submitted Escudero in the third round with a transition from the back to a triangle before securing an arm and forcing Escudero to tap out from an arm bar.
Total bonus money for UFC Fight Night 20 was $120,000.

If BJ moves up to WW, there is still GSP sitting at the top and we know he cannot beat him.
I think BJ would have a hard time with some of the bigger WW but at this point I don't see any other options.
Maynard or Edgar vs. BJ is not even worth playing out.

Not that I think he could beat BJ, but if they ever get Serra to move back down to LW he would be up there in the rankings.

serra said he can't make 155 anymore. he said he barely made 170 vs hughes. and that's a shame because he has no business at 170

I dont want to see him fight gsp again, but there still is a lot of crazy matchups like kos, hazlett, kampmann, fitch, swick.

Serra said there is no way he can make 155 anymore. Too much of a fat arse.
He's fighting Trigg at the next UFC in a "one foot in the grave" match.
The UFCs only hope for a noteworthy LW champ. bout is for Gomi to dismantle Florian. I think they could give Gomi an immediate title shot if he does that.
But I think BJ is scheduled to fight before the Florian/Gomi fight with an opponent TBD in April at 112.

Any chance we'll ever see Joachim Hansen in the UFC at 155?

Rafael 2 Years gonna get beat down IMO

Anyone know the chances of Aoki signing with the UFC at any point in the near future?

I'd rather see Hansen than Aoki, despite the recent win. Aoki can't handle Penn's striking, not that Hansen can but I think his style is more suited for the fight game here.

I have no facts on the matter but I think he stays in Japan.
Do you think his style would work in the UFC? I've always thought he would be at a significant strength disadvantage in the UFC.

he still has atleast 1 fight in dream i think.
i'd love for the ufc to enter Florian or Edgar or somebody like that into one of those dream LW tourneys. I think they'd clean house.

Aoki wants no part of the UFC's top LWs. Too much good wrestling for a guy who needs to get the fight to the ground and has mediocre standup.

Hansen absolutely hates Zuffa management and has basically vowed to never sign with them. I can't see them signing Aoki anytime soon; mainly b/c of his popularity in Japan and his fighting style. I could see them going with someone like Eddie Alvarez.
Edgar has to get the shot after Maynard's performance last night. Kenflo most likely will get the next shot; especially if he fights like he did against Guida. I don't think it'd be a stretch to give him that fight either. A lot of times guys improve the most after they've had a taste of the highest level. It certainly seems to have happened with Marquardt after the loss to Silva and it's not like Kenflo got embarrassed the first time around. I do agree that they could give Gomi a shot right away if he somehow beats Florian.

Kenflo's had 2 title shots already. I don't think he'll get another until BJ moves out of 155.

OK... Who the hell is KBeezy?? Forgive my ignorance I apparently missed a few threads.
He apparently isn't BJ Penn or GSP or a top notch guy, but an intro level UFC guy?
Pretty cool. He has 2000 posts? Shouldn't he be training...
All I do is eat like shite when I am in front of a computer.

You guys know your shite... I love it.
Hansen is a gangster, hates the UFC.
Aoki is a superior grappler who would get pummeled in the octagon by alot of fighters. Cage makes a huge dfference in aoki style. They simply would not grapple him, and would nor be forced to do so
and as far as WEC being a step down from me, no way. I'm happy for everything I'm able to accomplish in this sport. It's an honor to walk into that octagon and I respect all the guys there, and all the guys trying to get there.
If they cut me, which is always a legit possibility for ANY UFC fighter, I'm still gonna be me. I'm still going to have a desire seperate jaw bones from upper skulls.
So I will be fighting where ever I'm
getting treated fairly and payed properly. That includes UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, or some local fights at the River Center where all you guys could come.
If you aren't winning, you are on your way out. Period. So pack it up and go home. Or shake it off and step the frick back up. I'm a fighter

You get paid to do something you love. Not many people can say that.
I'm sure things will work out for you. You seem to have the right attitude about it.
