UL Lafayette terminated Softball Head Coach Michael Lotief after multiple complaints about harassment. The university released the following statement announcing the termination less than a month after he was put on administrative leave:
Following complaints of students and a staff member of the Louisiana Athletics department, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has terminated head softball coach Michael Lotief, effective immediately.
Lotief violated University and UL System policies by subjecting student-athletes and coworkers to violent, vulgar language and verbal and physical assault, creating a hostile learning and working environment.
“Behavior of this nature will not be tolerated,” University President Dr. Joseph Savoie said. “I want to commend the students for coming forward. They exemplified great courage in sharing their stories.”
A national search for a new head softball coach will begin immediately, according to director of Louisiana Athletics Dr. Bryan Maggard.
We’ll have more information as this story develops.

Ask yourself this: why in the flying frick would Torina leave a bigger school with more resources for ULL?

ULL just sunk it's own ship if it fired a coach for wanting more resources for his program. No self-respecting coach is going to go anywhere near that program now.

Nice edit.

Yeah, didn't read the article posted right above me...lmao!

Still, he was just raising hell about the resources available.

I'm gonna laugh my arse off when ULL softball is no where near what it was under him. I wonder how many football players and staff members file complaints about foul language? I mean, physical assault ain't right, but "vulgar language"? Can't handle a dirty mouth? Really?

Gender equality...lmao!

I expected it to be an LSU fan just based on numbers but it does make some sense that your post reeled in a triggered Lake Charles Community College fan.

Someone has to bring them back to earth. Seems like they often forget that they are a glorified stepping stone between the McNeeses and LSUs of the world.

I'm actually impressed that they managed to keep Robichaux (a McNeese guy) as long as they have. Must be something wrong with that guy to have stayed at ULL this long.

Insulting and picking on ULL is encouraged here, just try to make it funny or clever.

No matter how the University spins it, the girls love playing for the guy. He tried to fight for some improvements for the team and the Athletic department pushed back. This will not end well for UL. Softball will return to juco level. Word of mouth travels fast

Some on RaginPagin insinuating he hit(not sex) a player. Isn't he a lawyer? This is going to be some fun lawsuits.

Actually, there are a shitload of former players who despise him ...he had always been a hothead and verbally abusive. Great coach, and brave thru his cancer...but there is more to this story. The gender equity thing was a calculated bullet he was saving because he saw trouble was coming. He’s a lawyer, and he’s smart. You’ll never get the whole story from Savoie unless Lotief sues the University. We will see if that happens.

I think the last time he practiced law; prohibition was still a thing.

Tried to say this a few weeks ago, that he isn't what the perception is. Was only a matter of time for the way he treated his teams over the years. This whole Title 9 was just the beginning of everything, dude has some major anger issues.

It's pretty widely known he threatened to kick the former AD's arse during an argument. He's a known hot head. Sounds like he took it farther than people knew or thought.

If their "national search" is anything like LSU's, the head coach at Kaplan High should polish up his/her resume.
