Zion definitely got paid. The chances the NCAA or ESPN will ever probe are zilch.

I've long accepted that the NCAA and ESPN won't touch Duke unless irrefutable proof is literally handed to them on a silver platter, which probably will never happen.

Zion and his family received "improper benefits". You'd be naive to think otherwise. That said, those are just allegations which seemed to be based SOLELY on circumstantial evidence.

We KNOW Zion got paid to go to Duke. But there is no hard evidence to establish that and it is VERY unlikely anyone will be forced to testify in response to these allegations.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the text messages appear to put Nike in a bad light moreso than Duke. Both shoe companies were desperate to sign him for his career after college. But they were going to do what was necessary to steer him to one of "their" schools (Duke = Nike; Adidas = Kansas) to profit off of him during his one year in college.

I think more than anything these filings show just how involved the shoe companies are in the recruiting of big time players. And it starts at the AAU level. Not the kid's senior year of HS. That's why I laugh at the bozo in all of the other Will Wade threads that think this doesn't happen everywhere or that it needs to be "cleaned up". If you are recruiting a top talent involved in AAU basketball (and 99% are), then you are to varying degrees "playing dirty". That's WHY AAU exists

Duke should have been nailed for Corey Maggette, Chris Duhon, Carlos Boozer, and Lance Thomas. Nothing of consequence will happen.

The discussion about the house was just innuendo premised on public records. Yes, his parents just magically "moved on up" (ala the Jefferson's) once he signed with Duke and they moved to NC.
