Wow. If that's true, what was Islam's reason for backing out?

He had every advantage. Weight class. Topuria would have been coming off of a longer break from fighting than usual.

Now if Islam fights in July or August, there's probably no way he fights Topuria at MSG in November.

I don't know, maybe if Topuria fights Arman after Gaethje, it will be like the perfect way to train for the Islam fight. Then if he's able to beat Arman, he might just wait for the next time Islam would be ready to fight again. What else would be left for Topuria to accomplish in the UFC?

Apparently wasn’t Islam either

Dana is just gonna keep denying everything, even though he’s the one who made the original comment about A fight falling through

Something's not adding up.

Gaethje and Topuria weren't going to be on the card? And it sounds like Dana was never going to put Jon Jones on the White House card.

So aside from Pereira, what were their big fights going to be without those two?

Can you really be BMF when you’ve won once in the last 10 years?

I wouldn’t be surprised if he backed out because of Iran

Why in the world would you root for an absolute piece of shite over a good guy simply because the piece of shite was born on dirt close to you?

Man, you weren't wrong.

I hadn't given much thought to who'd fight outside of Jon Jones but i would have guessed it was going to be the most loaded card ever. That is a big let down.

Topuria is a freaking bad arse and electric and top 2 pound for pound, but Topuria vs freaking Gaethje who has lost two of his last three is not "greatest card of all time" headliner worthy.

Pereira vs Gane is a Jones vs Aspinall backup fight. Ugh.

I am a Michael Chandler fan, my sister is friends with him and his wife, so I root for him simply because of how nice she says they are, but Chandler a #8 vs #12(?) as the fourth best fight at the White House is kind of laughable. It needed to be Connor vs Chandler and if not, then Chandler didn't need to be ont here. Replace that one with a BMF fight.

Really surprised Nunes isn't on there as well.

I'll obviously watch and those should be good fights, but yea, kind of a bummer.

Islam vs Morales would have been a big match that fits with all the other pieces we know.

It seems like Dana is talking out of his arse. He’s admitted he doesn’t do much of the match making anymore, maybe he was more involved for White House card, but it sounds like he doesn’t know what’s been going on

Gaethje who has lost two of his last three

?

He’s won 4 of his last 5. His only recent loss was the Holloway KO. In that stretch he’s beat Fiziev twice, KO’d a prime Poirer, and brutalized Paddy the Baddy. I feel like this board sleeps on Gaethje way to much. Not saying he’ll win but it’s a badass fight

He also would have probably kicked max arse except for that crazy spinning kick max hit him with that broke his nose.

Someone really screwed the pooch on this card. Seems like every time the UFC announces a historical event lately, it bites them in the arse. I have to wonder if they keep getting put over a barrel during negotiations because the fighters know the UFC has cornered itself to deliver.

Dana knows exactly what’s going on. He said from the start that Jones wouldn’t fight on the card which was likely going to be used as a bargaining chip against jones. Maybe jones didn’t come down enough or they just didn’t want to deal with him. The stakes are different now they don’t need ppv buys like they used to. I’d much rather see gaethje vs Topuria than Jon vs poatan or Gane. He likely would do poatan the exact same as he already did to Gane and it wouldn’t be very exciting. Topuria has been nothing but exciting and literally nobody on the roster has been more consistently exciting than gaethje.

That’s fine but don’t also tell us that it’s going to be the best card in UFC history

I trust White more than I trust Jones any day of the week and twice on Sunday, and that feels gross.
