It's insane to dehydrate themselves like that. It's just misrepresenting their weight. Should it maybe be more tied to height?

I believe that UFC does the weight divisions the best. But there are still too many. There should only be maybe 4 weight classes..

I knew dudes that played football and wrestled in high school and 2 guys would cut from 230 to 189 and another from 180-175 to 140. The lighter one was really pushing it. Dude came over to my house while cutting hard and said to my mom that what she is cooking smells good. She said she was only pre heating the oven lol.

Is it? I just don't think it matters under 150 or over 225ish. Maybe 4 is too few, 5 or 6 should be enough.

Under 150
151-175
176-200
201-225
226 and above

Weigh ins should be a week out and the day of the event. I don't think it's necessary to add more..

I dont know about that bro. Kai kara france should have to fight max holloway?

I think they could add 2-3 more weight classes. The current system works fine IMHO

Not only is this a horrible take, you don't even know how the current system works

There is another mma promotion that has a way to monitor fighters to make sure it doesn't happen. A lot of these guys cut massive amounts of water weight, then rehydrate after the weigh in. They don't reach their walk around weights but they are still well over the weight the fight takes place at.

This is more of a problem for mma than boxing.

I'm not a fan of the big weight cutting in boxing/mma, but there's really no logical way of preventing it.

They can do like amateur wrestling and have doctors determine the lowest weight a competitor can cut to.

I think that method is flawed because everyone's body and body type are a little different, and trying to establish uniform rules will give some people an advantage and put some at a disadvantage. Just trust guys to know their own body.

he's now 3-0 in the UFC and his opponents height and walk around weight are as follows...

- Jordan Leavitt: Height 5'9, Weight 168lbs
- Rodrigo Vargas: Height 5'7, Weight 163lbs
- Luigi Vendramini: Height 5'8, Weight 165lbs

So....

What's the story here?

That a guy likes to eat really poorly outside of training, but can then drop weight in order to fight in his class?

Then contribute and educate, not just make snippy comments.

All the divisions are dumb. for some reason it's not fair for a guy at 130 to fight someone at who weighs 154 (3 weight classes inbetween). But its totally cool for Wilder to give up over 40#s to Fury..

Can you lay on top of a guy and choke him and punch him in the face in boxing?

And your general comparison of lower weight classes to heavyweights makes no sense anyway

it’s very reasonable to cut 10-15 pounds 2-3 weeks from a fight without doing anything too drastic

He eats like a mad man between fights. If he just had a normal guys diet. He might be 180 at the most. They have videos of him just being a total fat arse. Eating like two triple meat burgers shite like that..

Some people cut a ton of weight

Some people keep their weight relatively close to their fighting weight all the time.

End of the day almost everyone fights at the lowest weight they can.

It makes sense when they’re pretty standard but heavyweight is usually a free for all. If you can find a guy at the upper end with skill he will dominate.

I don't know why there's never been anything between LHW and HW. Something like 225 lbs.

I know dana hates it but id love to see a 165 and 175 division instead of 170. There is a big pool of talent between 155 and 185 to fill those divisions in. Not as much between 185 and 205 at this time. Not sure of the demand between 205 and the max weigh in of 265 both lhw and hw always seem to be real top heavy.

Having 1 class encompass 60 lbs is crazy though. Like Randy was giving up 40 lbs to Brock and that's not counting the latter getting back up to 280 after weighing in.

I agree. You just dont want a situation like womens 145 where there are zero contenders. Even worse you have contenders jump from already slim divisions and now all 3 are very weak.
