UFC hype train, Paddie Pimblett reveals he is walking around at 200lbs (fights at 155lbs)

weight cutting in MMA and boxing to find an advantage has always happened, but in MOST cases we're talking about 10-20lbs....
how is their ANY honor or dignity in being a 200lb fighter who cuts 45lbs all the way down to 155lbs to fight such smaller opponents?
“I’m about 200 (pounds),” Pimblett told reporters backstage at UFC on ESPN 41. “I don’t know (if it’s normal). You could say that, you could not say that.”
Some pundits and fans have criticized Pimblett for gaining too much weight in between fights. Pimblett understands it’s not ideal, but think it’s Ok for now. He’ll clean things up in the future once his bouts are a bit more consequential.

Pimblett is 5'10 and 200lbs....
he's now 3-0 in the UFC and his opponents height and walk around weight are as follows...
- Jordan Leavitt: Height 5'9, Weight 168lbs
- Rodrigo Vargas: Height 5'7, Weight 163lbs
- Luigi Vendramini: Height 5'8, Weight 165lbs

Sounds like he does what is needed to win

I mean if he cuts it and fights, he won't be 200 pounds on fight night.

Dude binge eats when he’s not fighting. I saw a clip on barstool about what he ate that day and it was insane

He won’t be able to do that his whole career at 155. He’s still young though

Besides it’s not as if he’s cutting 45 pounds in a week, more like 6-8 weeks.
Chandler is another 155’er who is probably 190 before fight camp

Fellow Englishman Ricky Hatton did the exact same thing.

Lol your honor and dignity shtick about this is absurd. Do you cry about the LIV Golf Tour too? It’s uncommon, because it is tough to do. I don’t see how it is an advantage. Dude probably trains harder than anyone to make this happen. Sounds pretty damn honorable to me
Baw.

He's talking about being fat at 200 lbs and most people are not cutting 10 lbs, dummy

I'm not a fan of the big weight cutting in boxing/mma, but there's really no logical way of preventing it.

He’s not a 200 lb fighter. He’s a 200 lb fatass. He balloons between camps. When people talk about weight cutting, they don’t peg the starting weight at the fighter’s fattest while binge eating out of competition.

Hey joe, I bet you paddy the fatty would beat your arse
And if your response to that is ‘well yea, he’s a professional fighter’, then you’d most definitely be right. He’s a professional. He knows what he’s doing. Let him handle himself

I don’t care what the dude does. I’m not the one pretending like he’s a weight bully because he’s 200 lbs after spending every waking moment since his last fight eating

Theybasked him about his weight yesterday and he said he will tighten up once he starts fighting ranked competition, for now he is gonna have fun and eat.
Dude is good but i dont see him in the same way as the killers at the top of the 155lb division. Regardless he is entertaining.

If he can do it, more power to him

Not sure if there's something I'm whiffing on as I'm not too up to par on that entire process.

ONE FC has a system where they follow fighter weights longitudinally, but I don’t think that they’re particularly transparent with any of their decision making, so I’m not sure how well it’s adhered to

They weigh-in the day before the fight. He won’t be at 200 on fight day. 170-175 lbs maybe.

I think there is a misunderstanding here. “Cutting weight” and “waking around weight” are two different things.
He’s 200 pounds between fights when he’s not training to lose fat. He doesn’t diet and gets fat.
When he trains for a fight, he probably sheds 30 pounds of fat to get ripped.
So he is actually 170 lbs when he’s in shape. Then, before the fight, he cuts 15 pounds of water weight like all fighters do.
He’s not cutting 45 pounds of water weight before the fight to bulk back up to 200 on fight night.
